What the deuce? Who takes photos of their body and puts them on a dating profile?  Why don't you just put a profile name up that says "prostitute" or "escort" seeking a DATE?
What goes through someone's mind when they put these photos on a dating website like match etc.?  There is nothing wrong with being proud of your accomplishments but when you lead with sex appeal it seems you are shallow, superficial, sex hound, that is not serious about dating but serious about pimping yourself.  Such profiles in my opinion belong on free websites or "hook up" websites.
Whenever people show me someone's profile and the person promotes pics want to say .....really..........REALLY?

    What are your thoughts?

      Probably not a good idea.

Someone that only shows their outward appearance and doesn't discuss their inward thoughts probably has a low opinion of themselves.
Somewhere along the line, he or she has been rewarded for their looks only and not their accomplishments in life. They may have used their looks to get what they want and don't know any better. IMHO roll

I would rather people show what they think is important and seek the relationship that matches than pretend to be something else.  If what they offer is being hot, and what they want is being hot or being rich, people looking for something else know to move on.  Win/win.

People join dating websites for a variety of reasons. Some people are looking to find their "true love" and others are simply looking to "hookup" with someone sexually. And yet others are content with just having someone to chat with online or go places as platonic friends.

I suppose the same could be said about people gathering in a nightclub. Some people are there to listen to music, dance, or socialize with friends and while others are hoping to get laid.

Unfortunately too often people with "different objectives" cross paths. Some dating websites do allow people the option to choose exactly what they are seeking. The vast majority of people are not looking to trade sex for cash such as in the case of prostitutes and escorts. They're just looking for someone who wants what they want. A profile photo offers them to opportunity to catch people's attention as well as to indicate their personality and what they are looking for. "Like attracts like." :-)

Dashingscorprio you are right as rain when you said "People join dating websites for a variety of reasons.  Some people are looking to find their true love and others are simply looking to hookup with someone sexually.

Dashing-scorpio you are so right with your scenario.  While I understand profile pictures allow you to showcase your physical appearance and personality, it makes no sense to me to place profile on websites advertising a "better quality" experience. My 2 cents, if you want to hook up then stay off of quality websites.

realtalk247, I guess there are some people who even though they're looking to "hookup" want to do so with "quality people". It's like comparing Playboy and Hustler Magazine, both feature nude women.
However one is considered to be much more "classier" than other.  Not many Hustler Magazine centerfolds have gone on to become famous celebrities:-)

One of the great things about Online Dating is you have lots of profiles to scroll through and most people don't take that kind of rejection personally. Although some sites do offer you the option to see "who viewed you" or clicked on your profile. I suppose that might give some people a complex as they wonder why the person did not attempt to contact them!

However what most likely is to be the case is you don't want someone you thought was awful to see that you were "checking out their profile"! LOL! (They might turn around and attempt contact you).

These days too many people approach dating backwards. It use to be a FUN sociable activity that gradually became serious when you felt a strong connection with someone.

Today most people want to start off being "serious" with the belief the "fun" will come afterwards.

Unfortunately these people don't realize that if people don't have a great (first date) they're not likely to want to go out on a second date. One of the upsides to having bad dates is one always has funny stories to tell their friends!

Well said dashingscorpio. People do approach dating backwards often comparing a list of requirements and submitting a resume.  While there are important things you need to know, that will come with time.  I've always been uncomfortable with people who ask me right away what I'm looking for in a relationship, etc?  While you don't want to "waste time" NOTHING can happen if I'm not comfortable and we are not friends.  If I want to get married, it doesn't mean you are a contender for the role/position. I'm just saying. Like I said, let's see if we want to be around each other for a second date and relax.

            Well said.

There is an art to online dating.  Where is the seminar for that?
