My most successful hubs seem to be about dreams and dreaming. This attracts a lot of requests for dream interpretations. Over the last couple of years I have narrowed myself to answering requests from established gunners only. I seem to only receive requests from those who join after reading my hub and stay, otherwise, inactive. What are your thoughts on how to prevent this?
I have some Hubs that draw a lot of public questions. That's what they do best. I have those few comment capsules set to "everyone," I delete crap and spam ruthlessly and answer the real stuff as best I can.
I would never force people who clearly have such simple (repetitive) questions to join just to get an answer from me.
Sue, Based on you explanation, it seems that you may have your comment capsules set to only allow signed-in users to comment. If this is the case, you are forcing outsiders to join HubPages just to ask you a question.
I agree with relache. It's better to allow anyone to comment. But in order to avoid spam, enable the option to approve comments before they appear on your hubs. This can be done globally from your "comments" > "show settings" page.

How important is it to have a comment section on your hubs, or How important is it to respond?I was going through some of the hubs that belong to some of the top paid hubbers ( info found on the success story page) and a lot of those people do not respond to comments. In fact, many of their...

What are the potentially cons of not using a comment box?I'm tired of answering the same questions over and over again. I'm tired of getting rude comments. I'm tired of dealing with it basically. I want to help people, but answering the same question over and over again or having to defend myself...

Do you think it is important to add follow-up comments when people answer your questions? When I answer a question or leave a comment on someone's hub, I appreciate some awknowledgement. I feel surprised (and a bit "cheated" when there is no response) Am I setting my expectations too...

I know that it is against HP rules for someone to place a link in a comment of a hub, but is it okay for someone to place a link in a comment when answering a question, even if it directs people back to their hub? Also, it seems to be okay to place links in the forums' comments, as the link...

How do I get my hub score to go up?The score for my hubs range between 55-65. I'm fine with that. However, my pic hub score has dropped all the way down to 1. Yikes! It was in the 12-14 range when I joined a few days ago. So is it normal for a newbie to have a score of...

For years I have been diligent about responding to questions left on my hubs. But now I've discovered comments are being published on my articles without appearing in my Comments section, so I look like I'm rude and ignoring readers who go to the effort of writing.Today I spent ages waiting for...
