Silly question here - I think the problem might be an infection on my PC, but I want to make sure. I opened HP this morning and when I checked my comments, there were many in-text ad links.

    Here is a screenshot:

The ads claim they are from ssurrfkeepit. I just want to make sure this is only affecting me vs. the site!

    I'm using Google Chrome.

    Thank you!

You got a plugin on chrome that's doing that. Just go to settings>extensions and get rid of the ones you don't require.

You can go to this free site, download the free tool, and it will clean out the malware.  It's perfectly safe and I use this scan several times a day. This will put the icon on your computer and you can just start the scan whenever you want to.

Or, you can simply restore your computer to an earlier date before you noticed the malware:
      Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore

HP should definitely hire you. Every time that you post a piece of advice/suggestion it turns out for the best. I just used the Superantispyware and cleaned my PC (Over 476 threats no less!)

        Thanks Writer Fox!

I really like that program, too, and I just have the free version.  Use it every day before you turn your computer off.

It's you and your computer.  HubPages does not have in-text ads on the site anymore.

    Leah,

Another good scan and clean program is MalwareBytes - (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) - I use it in conjunction with SuperAntispyware - sometimes one will catch malware the other misses! I like the "belt and suspenders" approach...

I can vouch for that one, too.  I use it about every two week.s

Thanks, everyone! Glad to know it is just my computer. Scanning and cleaning now!
