This provides a useful insight into Panda 4.1. => http://moz.com/blog/panda-4-1

    Some key points
    => Panda is a site-wide penalty
" It is also worth pointing out here that there is no positive Panda algorithm to our knowledge. Sites that perform well on Panda do not see boosts because they are being given ranking preference by Google, rather their competitors have seen rankings loss or their own previous Panda penalties have been lifted. In either scenario, we should remember that performing well on Panda assessments isn't going to necessarily increase your rankings, but it should help you sustain them."

=>Most significant differences between winners and losers

    Big
    # This content could be in Print
    # Page written by experts
    # Insightful analysis

    Moderate
    # Content Trustworthy
    # Original Content
    # I would consider this site an Authority on the topic
    # Trustworthiness
    # Page worth bookmarking

    Low
    # No errors
    # Low ads

The first two sets (high and moderate), are the most difficult to address particularly for a site like HP, because they relate to authority, depth of analysis, trustworthiness and originality, as well as good design, high quality content.

The extent to which Panda is applied to Subdomains, as well as to the host domain, is also an issue.

Yes, thanks for the insight, janderson99. Do you think the penalty this site is under will be lifted, based on your experience?

The best we can hope for is a review with the next panda update. My prediction is that HP's traffic will remain what it is now (1M US pageviews) for the time being, despite the huge increase in pages.

In spite of the 175,000 pages of new content added from Squidoo, yesterday's HP traffic was exactly what it was a year ago on October 13, 2013.

My prediction is that HP traffic will fall even further when the Google-announced Penguin algorithm is released (due momentarily).  I strongly suggest that everyone put NoFollow tags on all affiliate links, advertising links and links unrelated to Hub content (like in photo credits).  I also suggest that you add followed outbound links to good related reference info on other webpages (not Wikipedia and not just other Hubs on HubPages).

I suggest that you remove links to your other Hubs which are not specifically related to your Hub's topic. Further, check your keyword phrase density (different from keyword density), comments for spam wording (bad English, etc.) and links. Make sure all ads and affiliate marketing "adds significant value" to your users and are directly relevant to your Hub content. Finally, check your Hubs for broken links and suspicious backlinks.

How do we know if it is a suspicious backlink?

Go visit the site.  If it looks like a spam site, it probably is.

I read this on moz a few days ago and posted the link in another Panda related thread.  It probably got lost in the thread. I thought his overall analysis of the winners and losers was interesting in that it appears that the losers at their best were still below the winners at their worst.  He also links to another helpful page at the end of his article that's worth reading in regard to Panda.  It goes over the Google high quality Do list and low quality Don't list.
