Google search shows sites using my statement as their summery.

   I did a google search on the opening statement  of one of my painting hub, "Painting techniques are pretty much the same when using water soluble oil paints to replace your regular oils, with a few minor adjustments."  I found one article on articletrader.com that was a complete copy of the first six paragraphs of my hub. I sent a DMCA to articletrader and the individual about removing the article.
   
   My question is about the 8 other websites that were using the exact statement I search for in their summary of the content of their site. I opened there links and there was no pertinent information within their sites pertaining to the summary. Do I send a DMCA directly to google of the individuals. Some where on groups.google.com. Others were on googledrive.com

      This summary appears to be in the site code that is not visible to the human eye, but is visible to Google.  Not sure what to do about that as far as filing a DMCA report.  I will be checking my material the same way that you have and see what I come up with as time allows and of course follow this thread for any advice that anyone may have to offer.
      
      If you go to those sites and then "view source" on your machine, you may be able to see the text you are seeing appear on Google search.

         Thanks Dale. I hope someone has an answer for me. At least I found the one on article trader that was a complete copy. I'll be checking shortly if  it has been removed.

         Filing a DMCA is not any different for the content if it is viewable or in non-rendered content, either way you can issue a DMCA notice of infringement.

            Thanks Matthew. I had no idea about non-rendered content.  So if it is hidden in the code, "behind" what is viewable online, we can file the DMCA the same way with the URL and the description of how it is showing up in search but not viewable?

               What I've seen lately is that people steal content and put it in the non-rendered part of a page with the hopes to "trick" search engines.
               
               A DMCA notice of infringement just says that they have copied your copyrighted content without your permission.
               
               It doesn't matter if it is visible when you read the page, if they copied it and you can see the text in the source code for the page, then you can file a DMCA NOI.
               
               Just make sure that they content is in the page source before doing so.

                  Thanks Mathew. I'm new to this and now you have introduced a new term DMCA-NOI. I understand the difference about viability in the source code, which in my case, I am not seeing it the source code but only on the google search page. I do have another one where it is visible and I sent a DMCA to acticletraders.com, but I have not had any response or removal of the copied page. Do I send the DMCS-NOI and where do I find an example of that form.

      I wonder if the summary has been hidden in the Meta Descriptions (the custom summary which appears in search engines, but not necessarily appearing on the pages to see).

   Like mentioned above:
   summary = meta description
   
   And it is visible to all the crawlers, bots in page source etc but not visible on page.
   
   Purpose of hubpages' summary is to fill meta description as other way hubpages would need to scrap first sentence or two from article or certain number of characters and that way it may not look nice.

   I have had the same exact thing happen to me, with my name, the name of my hub copied and put into 2 different webpages. Those pages have no contact information. I filed a DMCA with google, bing and yahoo. I was told by all 3 that you do not own that sentence so therefore you cannot file anything against the owner of those websites. It is total BS and they are letting it happen-we cant do anything about it. I searched the registration of one of the websites and its registered out of the country so laws, etc. vary, there is nothing we can do about it.
