      I want to add this poem dedicating it to all my "Cooks"
      
      HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
      We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing
      We are hoping our cooking is pleasing today
      While guest are all waiting; we have this good lesson
      When asked to cook Christmas; we know what to say.

   I'm headed 2 hours south to spend Thanksgiving with my dad, sister & brother.  From there, I'll head to my in-laws for another meal. 
   
   I love Thanksgiving!  Not for the food, but for the family time.

   How thankful are we today?
   Did you know that there will be more discussion about the Black Friday sales on television than Thanksgiving day itself?
   We have forgotten what President Lincoln said in 1863, “…a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwells in the heavens.”
   Thanksgiving for what?
   “…the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies…to these bounties which are so greatfully enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added…by the providence of Almighty God.”
   “No human effort has worked out these wonderful blessings. They are the gracious gift of the Most High God…It seems to me fit and proper that they should be gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and voice, by the whole American people.”
   Why do politicians, educators, and the average American don’t talk like this anymore?
   THE INTENT OF THIS NATIONAL HOLIDAY WAS TO BE THANKFUL FOR THE BLESSINGS FROM GOD.
   Today in America, the general attitude of “entitlement” has replaced the attitude of thankfulness, for many of us.
   When we focus inwardly, we forget how to be thankful.
   Many talk about how they DESERVE their “fair share,” EXPECT certain things and have a “right” to other benefits.
   Forgetting to focus on God, we forget to appreciate the blessings of God.
   The Holy Bible reveals that in the latter days, many will become self-absorbed, and unthankful:
   “For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, …UNTHANKFUL.”
   The ancient Israelites were so. God revealed to them:
   “When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.”
   “But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty, you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today.  For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful!  Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.
