I posted a question on a forum page relating to Amazon Ads yesterday.  I did not post an image with it.

I was really surprised a short while ago to see the question at the bottom of a forum page (with related questions below)
Alongside my question was an image which is not one of my own.  Where did it come from and  Is this practice something new or have I been sleeping all this time?

      Hi Sally,

We commissioned a set of images to display on Q&A and Forum posts that do not have images added. We used to use the Hubber's profile photo as the default, but if the same Hubber asked a number of Questions or made multiple Forum posts, it looked very awkward on the Feed and Topic Pages to have the same profile photo showing over and over. So now an image from our photography collection is applied randomly to each post just for the preview.

        Hi Christy,
I doubt I would have noticed had I not been an amateur photographer.  I think of my images of part of who I am so I am grateful for the explanation.  I will make a point of adding my own images in future.  I prefer to have my own images be associated with my writing.

Yep, adding your own images will ensure they always show up in the previews instead of one of our default images. smile

That's great Christy and Sally. This feature has been added recently, I think since 2, 3 months. I t appeals good.
But, I am not adding any images to my questions and they are appearing without images even now. Is it always necessary to add images?

I may have misled you.  Mine was a question to the forum rather one under the 'questions' section of the feed.  There is an example below on this page (Related Discussions)   I don't think the actual questions page feed has images inserted by default.

I was thinking it related to questions section also. Sorry for it. Now, I am clear. It relates to forums and the related threads below. Thanks for clarifying..

No problem but having said that, I looked to see if you can add an image to the Questions section and the answer is yes, it is possible:)

Yes, we can add images. But not all questions can be supported with images. Image should suit the question and must be available also.

They are doing it at both Questions and Forums for the 'Latest, Best, etc' feed and so forth. Said with humor when I go to my profile clicking on Answer or Forums option my images look funny. Apples, candy, and flowers. The same ones here and there not topic related. I think your wise advice choosing an  image is best. I ponder how that impacts Google an image being there, even though may not be of importance.

Really!  That is funny.  Definitely going to stick to my images.

I think I will be switching to your strategy! Maybe as packaging the question where I hang about it may lead to more responses? I dun'no . . .
