Traffic Sharing within Niche sites

   This was always something I wanted to test out: Does traffic on the niche sites flow well? Do the articles there that do not get direct traffic via search or social media have any chance of receiving traffic?
   
   I finally got my answer after I submitted a hub to be added to caloriebee. It was getting just a couple of hundred views a month mostly from referred traffic from my other hub. But, now I see that there's quite a bit of caloriebee traffic being sent its way. Not numbers that would make me jump for joy. But a couple dozen a day isn't bad.

      Nevertheless, internal traffic does not help much anyway. Organic traffic is what you want.

         I'd have to disagree Glenn. Especially on my own sites I do a LOT of interlinking, particularly from high traffic to low traffic content. This way I get a flow on effect, which often results in readers discovering new content they wouldn't have otherwise, which often creates me organic backlinks. In the end  it's a win because my low traffic articles go up in organic traffic.

            I'm going to have to be more conscious of how I link articles on my own sites; I link them but I'm not sure I've linked them from high traffic articles to lower trafficked articles. I'll have to look into what I've been doing.

            I'm confused. The way you explained it, it seems you do agree.  I'm talking about organic traffic being important, and you just explained how you use interlinking to bring your organic traffic to your other content. I think we are on the same page with that understanding.
            
            It's still organic traffic even if it came through a funnel, as Google calls it. As a matter of fact, I sometimes review the flow of my organic traffic in my GA to be sure the interlinking is working.
            
            The thing I meant was that none-organic traffic, such as other Hubbers, don't click ads. We make more revenue from organic traffic for that reason.

               The internal traffic here is also organic traffic if that's what your saying. Just that it's not come directly from google to the hub in question. Yes it does get a bit of search traffic, but this is in addition to that.

                  No, that's not what I'm saying. Only search traffic is organic traffic, but if a reader from a search decides to look at another article of yours, or any other article on the site, then that is still organic because it originally came from a search engine. That's the point I was making. We can even see the way readers click from one hub to another by examining the path with GA. As long as it started from a search, it's organic. Other Hubbers who came from a link in HubPages would not be organic. Hope that is clearer.

                     Yeah I know what you're trying to say. But forget about that. Tell me about this traffic flow thing on HP. I use it on my website to see the landing pages and the flow in general, I'm sure it won't work with HP not unless you have access to HP's analytics account, of course. Is there something I'm missing?

                        Oh it definitely works with HubPages! Click on "Behavior Flow" in your GA and you'll see a tree chart showing the entry point (hub) and the path branching out to other hubs they follow as they read more than one hub. When you hover over any branch of the tree it shows you the "through traffic" and the "drop-offs" at each node (hub).
                        
                        When I look at mine I even see where people return to my profile and what they do next. Cool stuff. Google has a lot to offer that we can take advantage of with these reports.

                           Yeah but just your hubs and profile I wish we could see where people were going to from your hub (to other peoples hubs) and from which hub in particular they were coming.
                           
                           I use behaviour flow to see what internal linking works and what doesn't on my own site. Super nifty tool.

                              Yes that's true. I think it would be a privacy issue if we were able to track other Hubbers traffic flow. Nevertheless, the tracking follows through our hubs on the niche sites, so I'm glad for that.

   I have seen the same trickle down effect on pethelpful and delishable too.  I just had two hubs go to howtheyplay.  I haven't see it there yet, but I'm not sure that niche site is doing quite as well as some of the others.

   On your own website you can use clickbait titles for articles in a sidebar and get good results while never seeing a visitor from search. This is not something I would want the niche sites to do, lol. Or every page would carry something like 'What your Husband/Wife Really Thinks about Your Mother'.
