It seems it's still going to be a major hurricane when it reaches FL. I hope you're prepared and stay calm.
Be safe!
I've been following it on TV. Scary! It seems most people are taking it quite seriously.
They should. We (in PR) were lucky this time. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for Haiti and Cuba. And it certainly doesn't appear is going to be the case for FL , GA and SC.
Saw this image on Bing news. It is a scary looking storm.
According to the United Nations, the disaster has affected 350,000 Haitians and left the country facing its worst humanitarian crisis since the devastating earthquake six years ago. The storm killed at least 108 people there. As the death toll rises and crucial infrastructure crumbles, thousands have been displaced.
Hillary Clinton PULLING HER ADDS from the "Weather Channel " after begging for more votes , taking advantage of the hurricane ! This candidate knows no shame whatsoever ! She's now resting so she can go to Florida to shake hands and acquire votes first and then donations for her campaign !
I hope everyone is staying safe and out of the path of the storm. I feel sorry for the people of Haiti who have already been through so many disasters.
I live in Brevard County, Florida, about 30 miles from the coast. The warning about the storms effects to this area has been greatest exaggerated. We have had 50-60 mph winds, none of the prongs from the palm trees have broken. The electricity remains and even the Internet still works. What a hassle putting up all of the hurricane plating. The only rip in the 'FLORIDA room' screens, was the one place there by the cat that 'freaked out'. When I think how much everbody was rushing the stores and fuel outlets in the past two days, it has almost been a letdown that the 'big show' had turned out to be a flop.
I used to live in Florida. That's the way it goes but the one time you let your guard down is the time you'll wish you hadn't.
That's what I'm hearing from others on the ground, that the hurricane isn't anywhere near as big and bad as the Weather Chanel, MSM has reported. I think the Globalists is lying to push their climate change agenda, they all sounds like they are drunk, and they want people stuck in the Matrix.
The great deception!
Black Lives Matter supporters will be greatly disappointed as they were ready for a hell storm so they could loot. True!
* http://www.infowars.com/black-lives-mat … thew-hits/
I don't know how much of weather prediction is a science as opposed to an art? I would not want to take a broad brush to the issue of the relevance of this storm when looking at 'climate change' that you speak of coming from the left.
As for the rest of this post, Colorfulone, it is just racist BS from the kingof bigotry, Alex Jones, himself.
Why couldn't you just be content to quit while you are ahead?
Racist BS? Bigotry? BLM supporters were tweeting on Twitter that they were planning to loot in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. It just got reported on Infowars. LOOK! Open your mind and see for yourself.
Real people like yourself are reporting something much different then the government run media is reporting. Trust your eyes.
First it was Global Cooling
Then, it was Global Warning
Then its Climate Change.
Pushing same agenda!
I know for a fact that Alex Jones has reporters that work for him in Austin who are black.
This racist and bigot line of attack is the oldest trick in the Democrat playbook.
We have plenty of Uncle Toms and the otherwise demented within our numbers. You may trust this fellow Jones, I don't, no more than I did a Jim Jones to lead his flock to the 'promised land'.
When it comes to the GOP, that 'playbook'has proven accurate on more than a single occasion.
That's your standard, they are Uncle Toms. c'mom
The old GOP is dead...Trump took over!
Herschel Walker, "I have personally known @realDonaldTrump for over 30 years and can confirm he is not a racist!!" 1 Mar 2016
….all of the people, of all colors who know him say the same thing.
As for the old GOP being dead, there are many that are part of the establishment that take issue with that and that fact could take a lot of the wind from Trump's sails in this campaign.
Richard Nixon and SammyDavis Jr. were well acquainted. That did not mean that Nixon policies were always in the best of interests of justice and equality in America. Ronald Reagan was worse in this regard and Trump falls from the scale.
NBC's Ron Allen thinks climate deal is 'designed to stop' storms like Hurricane Matthew
* http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/cur … top-storms
Ron Allen is not an idiot, he knows better than that, he's paid to report fake news to help push the climate change agenda of the Globalists.
Once more proving how brain dead the mainstream media is and how stupid they think the public is, a reporter claimed paying carbon taxes would stop hurricanes. That's the agenda!
What a troll...oh, is he an Uncle Tom too.
You'll politicize anything, won't you? Have you no shame?
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-37582009
Death toll exceeds 400 in Haiti.
Have you listened to Hillary Clinton politicizing Hurricane Matthew?
Lying Hillary Clinton wants you to believe that destructive hurricanes are entirely caused by human activity and wouldn't exist if she became president. This is about the same level of unintelligible hysteria as when she can't stop spewing her ultra-paranoid conspiracy theories about the "alt-right" and Russia.
"Last week’s hurricane was another reminder of the devastation that extreme weather can cause and I send my thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by Hermine. But, this is not the last one that’s going to hit Florida given what’s happening in the climate." - Hillary Clinton
"If it affects people who lose their homes or their businesses that took a lifetime to build, it doesn’t matter to him. When it comes to protecting our country against natural disasters and the threat of climate change, once again, Donald Trump is totally unfit and unqualified to be our President." - Hillary Clinton
Politicians shouldn't be allowed to pretend they know anything about science. Everyone already knows that politicians lie about almost everything and don't actually care about the people they're seeking to rule over, so it's disastrous whenever they claim science is on their side. They decrease the public trust in science when they spew nonsense like this. There's no sure way to make the public distrust science more than for hypocritical warmongering anti-human politicians to invoke science as justification for what they want to do to everyone.

No, I do not have any shame. Do you?
Haiti's death toll hits 842 and is expected to rise into the thousands once communication is reestablished with southwestern tip of island

Thank you for confirming that you are shameless, though I did not need confirmation for such an obvious fact.
Jesus Christ removed my guilt and shame, when He bore our sins on the cross and endured the shame for us so that we don't have to. Its freeing!
I'm glad that is obvious to you that I have no shame.
God's love and grace is amazing!
Yes, we have confirmed that you can lie and contort endlessly and do it with a clear conscience. Jesus is amazing.
I don't lie. I hate lying. I don't contort.
Hillary sure does though, but that's ok?
Obama
Trump
Whoever, should not lie. Its not ok.
The media has been lying about Hurricane Matthew and climate change.
That was my point and it gets turned on me?
LOL. If you say so. The evidence is all over these forums. I suggest you start another thread about Lyin' Hillary Clinton and her gay lover Obama and their odd need to believe scientists over Alex Jones.
This one is about Hurricane Matthew and its devastating effect upon people in its path of destruction.
You know, out of respect.
You're lucky. You should be glad. (But I get what you mean)
Yes, I am lucky and glad. From the initial report, this was to be the worse storm here in decades. I wonder how much the experts really know about predicting these storms? The retail outlets around here made a killing on impending disaster sales.
Well, I guess the almost 500 dead in Haiti proved them right. It's imposible to predict 100%. You were lucky that the stronger part of the system is in the other side. But winds are only one of the dangers of a hurricane, usually not the deadliest, water is. That damage would depend on how long the system affects the area.
It was a little different the further north you got in Brevard County. I had pieces of my neighbor's roof in my yard. There were lots of trees down. We lost power for almost 4 days. Power lines were down in my neighbor's yard. You're right, it was not as bad as expected, but I am so glad that it wasn't. Having been through many hurricanes, being from the Cayman Islands, I can tell you this was a monster storm. We were lucky. It still went on to devastate other areas. Keep praying for Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas and others recovering. It could have been a whole lot worse for us living in Brevard County.
Greetings, Gina
Wow, what a coincidence, my spouse hails from the Caymans.
Looking at the death toll from so many of our neighbors in the Caribbean, you think that there would be infrastructure in place there to provide more protection, as these sort of storms are so frequent.
Yes, I did hear that the rest of the county sustained somewhat more damage than we did. I can only hope that you and yours are bearing up well in the storms' aftermath.
But, when faced with the option of returning to the Rocky Mountains and the almost certain snow storms for the upcoming season, I will take my chances and stay here.....
Well, yes, the infrastructure is in place, at least in the Cayman Islands. That is not what I meant. The last major storm that hit was a category 5 Hurricane Ivan. I think only one person died due to accidentally coming into contact with a live wire. Other than that, only damage to building were sustained. Hurricane Matthew had nothing over Ivan. My great-grandmother's house which was built in the late 1800s still stands after Hurricane Ivan passed through. That should tell you something. Hurricane Ivan also sat over Grand Cayman for about 8 hours and pounded the islands with winds in excess of 200 miles per hour.
I just thank God that Hurricane Matthew changed course, because neither Jamaica nor the Cayman Islands needed another hurricane of this magnitude.
Haiti is such a poor nation that no matter what kind of preparation takes place, there will always be significant loss. Much of the lives lost were because no one knew the storm was even coming. Couple that with the flooding and mudslides that took place and you have a recipe for disaster. The Cayman Islands are in a much better situation financially to deal with these kinds of storms.
We did fine. I lost a lot of banana trees and other plants, but no damage to the the buildings. There was a live wire exposed in the backyard but otherwise good. We had a lot of clean-up, but the neighborhood came together and helped each other.
I'm curious who your husband is. I wonder if he knows me. It's such a small place....everybody knows everybody :-)
I am the hubby and my wife of almost 10 years was adopted from infancy by Americans and she indicates that her point of origin was the Caymans. She was employed as a social worker in Georgetown, living in Westbay during the early 1990s. There were residency and citizenship issues that precluded her from being able to stay. She has lived in Jamaica and the USVI during that period. She is a child of the Caribbean. She had to endure hurricane Hugo in St. Croix back in 1989. Your name does not ring a bell with her. You are not far from our location, drop us a line and maybe we can do lunch sometime. There is more in our profile if you are interested...
As the poorest nation in the hemisphere, Haiti is particularely vunerable. It just seems that while we always have casulties in the single digit for most national catastrophes, thousands die in the developing world, must it always be so? Seems that the world could pitch in to provide some infrastructure to reduce the ghastly number of casulties. Look at the earthquake there a few years ago.
We really had nothing to pick up, just taking down the hurricane screens. But, again, Rockledge was closer to ground zero....
Please forgive my error. I am so sorry about all the citizenship and residency issues that your wife faced. I will certainly send you an email so we may connect. Thanks for that suggestion.
You are suppose to be dead Cred. I'm glad you are not!

Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated. Rick Scott, GOP Govenor of this state, warned us that this storm could kill you...
He is either in on the great deception or he is ignorant and got trolled too.
The Globalists are megalomaniacs with a Marxist type of an agenda.
I'm not a Democrat or a Republican and neither are they..
Just stop your stupidity. At least in this thread cant you stop the BS? Not enough threads already? Geez.
Have some respect.
Respect? I don't disrespect members of HubPages and make personal attacks, that's not how I fly. I follow the rules and expect others to do the same.
Good grief... now we can't even discuss the weather around here without it turning into a political pissing contest? (rolls eyes)
How about bashing Christians?
In a "Politics and Social Issues" forum.
Forum posters in Hub Forums don't need an issue of contention , they can spout out hatred all without even a cause .
You know what would be great? If HubPages posters would show some respect and not politicize a natural event which has killed a significant number of people in Haiti and which would have potentially caused harm to family members such as my own, and which thankfully, for whatever reason, did not. Show some respect.
