Hi Hubbers,
I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my Hub Mind blowing and logical Paradoxes (must be signed in to view). What can I do to improve? Thanks!
Hi Adel,
There are several issues you need to address in order to have your hub approved.
1. Don't copy and paste from other sources unless you make it absolutely clear that you are quoting. Use italicised text to make the quote stand out. I am referring to your introduction.
2. Read through your hub to check for obvious errors. In the first example of the children, you say, ."...imagine a family with two children, and one boy. What is the probability that the second child is also a boy?" Read it out loud - it doesn't make sense. Is it two children, one of whom is a boy? Is it three children?
Along with that point, some of your examples are confusing. You have to explain them really clearly or your readers will simply press the Back button out of sheer frustration. Imagine telling them to a 10 year-old - they have to be that simple.
3. You must credit your images. They have to be legal-to-use. You can't just republish any image from the internet. Check the Learning Center for information - see the Help link, top right of this (and every) page.
4. Run your text through an online grammar checker - there are many errors. 'I' is always capitalized. So is 'I'm'. Your punctuation needs work too. Remember that HubPages is building a platform for high quality, magazine-style content. Therefore, your work needs to reach that standard, otherwise it won't be published and you won't get paid.
Good luck.
I can not put it in words how much i'm thankful for your help, thank you very much and i will do everything that you said and get better at this again thank you so much for this help.
One more question i hope you can help with regarding the introduction and quote issue , I did not take what he said word for word i just took the main concept of what he meant and told it in my way so with me doing that should i write as a quote and do the steps that you suggested ?
When I paste the first sentence of your second paragraph into Google, it appears word for word on several other sites. In fact much of your hub is a thin rewrite of an article on Mental Floss. If you did not write that article, then you are plagiarizing someone's work. You even lifted the images straight off it, together with the captions.
I see you have changed the hub slightly as the crocodile one is missing now. The one about Buridan's donkey is copied from Wikipedia. Again, almost word for word. I haven't time to check the rest, but I suspect I would find that sections of each of your stories are copied from various other websites.
If you wrote the originals, then your hub won't pass as it will be deemed duplicate content. If you didn't write them, then you are stealing intellectual work. This is illegal and you can get sued for it. Think about it - you are attempting to make money from other people's hard work.
You need to understand that, firstly, recycling other people's writing will get you nowhere. Your article will be forever competing with theirs, and frankly they are written much better. Secondly, you won't learn anything about the art of writing.
It is possible to research such stories and write them up in your own words. The problem with this kind of thing is that they are endlessly repeated which means it is difficult to actually produce anything original with that material.
My advice to you is to get rid of this hub - you won't get it approved and you could have your account closed by HP for plagiarism. Write original work based on your own life experience. You must have unique stories to tell. Things you can base interesting and informative articles around. You may have opinions to share. It's all about originality and good research.
