I am an Independent Avon Representative. I have found the best way to choose a foundation is by using a color card to choose the color that most closely matches your skin tone. Once you have narrowed your choices to a couple of shade variations test a small amount on the top of your hand in the soft tendon area between your thumb and pointer. Be sure to blend them in well to get the full effect. Choose the best one for color match and texture.
There are alot of options out there for foundation. Avon has several that are self adjusting to match your skin tone. There are also the cream to powder ones that feel lighter than some other heavier liquid or soufle foundations.
Avon offers free samples and is the only make-up producer I know of that offers a money back guarantee within the first 30 days if you try a product and decide you don't like it.

This depends on a number of factors If it's a summer foundation you will want a water based or mineral one so it doesn't run in a hot climate. If your skin is oily you need to find an oil free foundation. If you have extremely dry skin then a nourishing foundation is probably a better opt. If you get breakouts and blemishes you may need a more opaque foundation. With regards to color if you go to any department store or boots they will be more than happy to show you different tones. You may have a pink undertone a pink-yellow a just yellow a dark skin tone a medium or medium-dark etc. I don't know if this is directly for you but feel free to contact me if you would like a recommendation of a foundation product to suit your skin
Stay Beautiful
You should choose foundation that is the closet to your skin-tone color. When I say that, its about the whole picture, from your head to your toes! Most woman have a lighter face than the rest of your body, your face should match your feet sounds crazy, but it is really about your natural skin-tone. The next important step is to understand what skin type your are, as in oily, dry, or combination. It's important to pick a foundation that is right for skin condition also.
I have bought so many Foundations which have gone un-used. They seem to blend with my skintone so well when I test them at the Cosmetics Counter, but often when I get home and try it I'm disappointed, not just with the colour, but also the texture, the shine and coverage etc. Now I choose the brand differently. If I see a woman (friend/college/family member) with a similar skintone to me wearing foundation which it's looking the way I'd want mine to look, I simply compliment them and ask them the brand and the shade and then go purchase it! It's been working for me very well, the brand I'm using now is fantastic and I may not have selected it from the shelves in the store at all if I hadn't spotted someone wearing it! I've found it's not always the most expensive brands, or the newest trends in foundation that give the best results.
I think the easiest and most affective way to get the perfect match is by buying two foundations. It may seem ridiculous, but narrow down to two shades. This way, you can mix and match the two colors to get the perfect match every time. Skin tends to change fairly often, from sun exposure or lack of, so buying two shades will most likely prove to be beneficial.
