Is freedom of the press in danger in this administration?

Re: Freedom of speech, media, internet, etc.

Their assault on Fox News confirmed my suspicions. But we knew early in the administration that White House was on the phone daily with George Stephanopoulos at ABC.

Fox just won't play their game.

Obama invited liberal pundits Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow to White House for off record briefing.  Seem that Obama loves the news people who agree with his policies, but then hates anyone that disagrees.  He's acting more like a dictator when he does such things!
Not only is the press in danger but we the American people are also in danger of losing freedom of speech!

Yes, freedom of the press is in danger. This President cannot tolerate criticism of any kind and he and his administration seek to silence  dissent. We are on a very, very slippery slope.

Get a life! So how long has Fox been yelling lies about Obama?
    Far over due.

There is no question that the Freedom of the Press is in great danger with the Obama Administration. The strange this about this danger is that the so called "main stream" media is asking for it! They have gotten so out of touch with main stream Americans that the public no longer believes what it reads.
The next step, because newspapers are failing badly, is for the government to bail them out. With the bailout comes control and with control comes ownership. After that we have newspapers that print only what the Czar of Media Relations thinks should be printed. Sounds familiar? It should as it emulates the control that dictators and communist governments have over what the "people" hear and are forced to read. The fairness doctrine is an oxymoron. We must take care that the "labels" they put on programs actually identify what those programs are intended to accomplish. Anyone who thinks to the contrary really have their heads in the sand and are "fodder" for the ruling class!

Absolutely!  Too much government control is similar to a dictatorship. The major networks like CNN, CBS, etc. can say all the negative they want about conservative views & nobody is supposed to say a thing about it. But, wonder of wonders, let FOX bash a little and Boom! They wanna shut us up!  Media  bias sticks out like a jack ass in a herd of elephants.

The press is controled by the owners.  The owners only care about profit.  Obama doesn't control the press any more than Bush did.  You guys are buying the B. S.  Fox would go liberal in a second if they could make more money.  There is very little Free Press left, if by free you mean unbiased.  What we have today is opinion with the news(facts) taking a back seat.  That is 1/2 hour of news and 23 1/2 hours of B.S.  Not worth much of my time.

Republican or Democrat?  What's the difference?  Neither can tolerate any criticism and both try to do everything they can to spin or silence any media which opposes their view.  For politicians, its all a big game.  Each administration takes its turn stabbing and bleeding freedom of speech, freedom of the press a little more.  Sooner or later, one of them, and it doesn't matter which, will try to invoke tyranny.  Everybody thinks they know whats best for everyone else.  Oh the fools - and worse - the fools who think their being honest.

Simple answer-Yes.  Not only is freedom of the press in danger, but all the freedoms guaranteed in our Constitution.  It's been coming for some time, though this administration seems dead set on taking over the economy, and as Obama promised in his campaign, to REMAKE AMERICA.

In my opinion people have more freedom of expressing their opinions on the internet.Television and newspapers are second rate because they only give you the stories they want you to hear.

Journalists, writers and ordinary people can write and comment on stories on line and everyone's opinion is important.I think journalism is evolving to another level. Journalists from the old school mightn't like it.The 'Dear Editor' column has changed and the ordinary person is able to interact with professional Journalists on blogs and newspaper internet sites.
