Ancient and Modern?
Gordon B. Hinckley of the LDS Church has just passed away at 97. If you read his biography, it's simply mind-boggling what this man has accomplished and the millions of lives he has influenced and helped change through his leadership.

Are there any other Prophets like him out there?
Nice to meet you videobroker -
That is most certainly a fact, as to the life of this 'man' the members of the LDS called our living Prophet.
By the way... thanks for stopping by my Hub on his passing and commenting. I was online, as you read, when it hit the internet blogs! I could not find anything for about 10 minutes..
then the headlines started popping up on google. But even the lds.org was not up yet!
For a minute I thought that perhaps, it was someones sick joke?
Sadly, no.
I updated my Hub on the prophet and discussed how we do not worship our prophet; and the process of sustaining, in the Church.
I am presuming that you are a member of the Church.... or are you just promoting your video on the story here?
Either way... I appreciate your kind words.

I believe that the Lord speaks to prophets both anciently and in modern times. I have a firm belief in the continuing revelation that is given to both the church as a whole, through His prophet, and to the individual as a personal witness of truth. I too, loved our prophet President Gordon B. Hinckley and respectfully wish to acknowledge his passing with reverential thoughts. He was an incredible man and an honorable servant of the Lord. He will truly be missed by many.
Hi Nana,
As some may morn his passing, certainly the next place he has chosen to visit is rejoicing and welcoming this great soul.
Hey coolbreeze -
Most assuredly!
It is only selfishness - that we mourn the loss of our beloved prophet.

I have a question...you guys are talking about a Mormon prophet right? What do they do? Do they just preach or do they tell the future or say stuff about people he doesn't know about things that are real, etc.
Biblical prophets prophesied and were proved to be accurate on the most part...do Mormon prophets operate under the same kind of thing or is it that they just have wise sayings and you call them prophetic?
Mormon prophets are just like the ones from every dispensation of time since the begining; from Adam, to John the Baptist, the twelve apostles, and on to modern days. They give guidance and instruction to the people of the church.
We believe that without this kind of communication from Heaven the true Church will always fall into apostacy. It is their duty to speak by the comands of God and denounce sin. Sometimes they have the future revealed to them, but mostly they prepare us for the hardships ahead.
Therefore when the Lord sends a famine, plague, earthquake, flood, or any kind of natural or economic disaster, we will know to be prepared.
Most importantly they carry the loving message of the Lord to the hearts of all who are willing to hear it.
What is the definition of a Prophet? And would anyone recognise one if we saw one? Would he be popular? What kind of message would God be sending him to us to deliver?

What did Joseph Smith do that would prove he is a true prophet of God?I was raised a Mormon but never studied the religion or any others for that matter. I have come to a realization that the religion I have grown up in has many flaws. My mother told me that in order to believe in the...

As A Believer, Can I Be Able To Hear The Voice Of God Speaking To Me Like Moses And Abraham Did?

I seem to notice there are a lot who believe they are prophets. If you believe you are a prophet, how and why do you think you are a prophet? All of the claimed prophets I have seen continually contradict themselves. Will the real prophet please stand up?

If you knew God sent a prophet in this day, would you listen to him?I believe that God has called a prophet today but many people do not know or believe something else. What would you do if you heard that God called a prophet--Especially if listen to the prophet would mean changing your life.

Who are some prophets living today?Prophecy has been apart of history since the dawn of mankind. However, the superstars of yesteryear are nothing but a memory. Are there any prophets as accurate or famous as Edgar Casey or Nostradomus living today?
