   I would assume so...this is something that I found online.
   
   How many men do you know that get excited about the female anatomy other than when sexually aroused? Yes male gyno's will encounter the ugly women but also the very attractive ones! My wife has experienced a time when a male doctor insisted on doing an internal examination and when my wife requested a female doctor to do it, he became arrogant about it. On this same occasion my wife explained the reason why she was in the hospital to the female doctor (much against the male doctors will) and the female doctor said that an examination was not necessary and infact would put her at risk of developing an infection!! Not good when she was 4 months pregnant at the time!! I know this may be a rare occurance but for me, NO man should be in this line of work, there are plenty of other areas of medicine to do so why choose one that involves naked women if it wasn't for reasons of perversion?
   I cant believe we are in the 21st century yet nobody has designed a medical tool/machine that makes the need for manual internal examinations redundant?!!
   In my opinion, male gyno's are the equivalent of a guy wanting to study breast examinations rather than something inportant such as brain or heart surgery.

   I may not be the norm, but I actually prefer male ob/gyn's over females.  Mainly, from my own experience, male doctors were more gentler than females.  The females I guess 'knew' the limits of the female anatomy and didn't quite care, the males were always more cautious. 
   
   I'm sure it depends on the patient and the actual doctor, but males are always my first choice when it comes to ob/gyn.  I just hated the two times I was pregnant and I had to visit all the doctors in the practice, including the women.

   My wife goes to a female gyno. Most women I talk to feel uncomfortable going to a male gyno.

   From my own experience and observations, I don't think it's a logical assumption at all, at least not in mainstream Western culture. I can see where in some other countries, or in areas with large immigrant or first-generation populations from countries that have a very gender-divided culture where this might be a problem, but otherwise no. In the US, and probably in other Western cultures as well, we are raised to see a doctor as a doctor...and stereotypically, and still true in most fields, most doctors of all types are male. Of the OB/GYNs I personally know five are male and one is female, and the female is the only one that is still accepting new clients. Of their patients that I know, this isn't gender-driven in the slightest...three of the male docs have been in practice 30+ years, and the other is constantly updating his techniques for the best possible treatments available. The female is a good doctor, and the only one I knew professionally before I knew her personally, but has only been in practice for 8 years and so many women opt for experience. Personally, I saw the aforementioned female doc with my first pregnancy and thought she did a good job, but was not at all happy with a couple of things she did. For this pregnancy I am seeing the least experienced of the male docs, but his technique is the best in the area and he is a lot gentler than my previous female doctor. Overall, the only people I know who have a hangup about male GYNs are some of the less-secure boyfriends and husbands of the women that go to them.

   I'm actually with floundersahm. I do prefer male doctors for the exact same reason. They are more gentle and more considerate of my privacy. They allow me to feel covered during a breast exam or pelvic exam. In his office there are two females and two males. Granted my male doctor is superb, but I have a really hard time getting an appointment with him, and they always try to get me to see one of the female doctors. I refuse, because I prefer him, due to his gentle approach not just to my physical needs, but also my emotional needs when I was going through infertility issues.
   
   I guess to answer the question, I think it depends on the individual doctor, but I do believe women doctors probably are more sought out.

   For those that are worried about the possible "lechery" of a male doctor, consider that your female doctor may be a lesbian.  Bwah-ha-ha-ha!

   From my experience as well as those of girlfriends I have heard that a male Gyn is preferrable over a female Gyn any day of the week.
   
   My personal experiences with female Gyn's has been horrible. For some reason the women have been very abrupt and rude when speaking to me. God forbid I had a question!. They were quick to get me out of the examination room. That is why I currently only see male Gyn's.
   
   The male Gyn's I have had have been so much more patient, kinder and have taken the time to explain exactly when they were going to examine me, what was going to be used, why it was being used and why this was important.
   
   I think that all women like to be well informed and made to feel at ease by the person that is examining their "Secret Garden"...
