Creative writers, how much of a novel that you're hoping to publish do you post to get feedback?
Lora, personally I would not post any part of a novel on hubpages that I was hoping to publish elsewhere. Some hubbers may do, but I would think agents and publishers might be deterred by pre-published work, especially the most reputable ones. I'm not an expert though, and might be wrong, but that's my take on it.
Thanks for the feedback, Polly! Chapter 3 may be my last post of The MirrorMasters, then, and I'll just focus on short stories and other things here.
I'm posting all of Expletus and the Great Release. I put out a new chapter every wednesday and friday. It's a great way to prove to publisher's your work will sell, since you can always pull down the content if they're interested. You're protected against plagarism as well.
I don't see any reason not too. If anything, it's a win-win, since word-of-mouth is the most important driving force of any sale.
i would check with a few publishers and see what their take is, but posting little pieces of the novel i think the publicity will be a positive move, but not a complete chapter.
I almost always publish about 25 percent of it. THis offers enough to the reader to give them a feeling on it and you can get some really good feedback.
None at all. I would prefer instead to request a private critique.

A few of us poets and creative writers have come up with the idea of creating our own website specifically for all forms of creative writing. This one is going to be fun! What I've observed on the forums is that there are a few, kind of unwritten cliques of hubbers who consider themselves 'experts' in almost everything and kind of try to 'educate' newcomers as if one must submit before them because these veteran hubbers have won Nobel...

I just posted the first chapter of my novel, Critical Mass, and I'm going to post about two more chapters each week, while trying to direct agents and publishers to the site, as well as many new hubbers, and though I know this might get me some exposure if the right people see it, I can't help but...
