What age should you allow your child to have a mobile/cell phone?
present days even a primary school boy is having a cell phone.any ways giving a mobile to your children depends on the change in life style. i mean if they stay with parents a cell phone need not be a necessity but if they stay far away it must be.
But there are uses as well as misuses of a mobile. in some people's life style mobile is necessary all the time, for some it will be situational in some it is not that important. Think about your life style and it's you who know better about your life style and you can decide to have a mobile or not.
children may complain of others having mobiles loaded with amazing softwares whereas they don't. decide if it's necessary or not.
Thank you
You should give your child a emergency cell phone, for emergencies only to contact family, no texting, no calling friends in 6th or 7th grade. You should give them a phone to text and call friends in 9th grade because prior to that your child really has no need for it.
I see primary school kids with mobiles all the time, and I don't believe that it's either necessary or suitable at that age. If the convenience factor makes it worthwhile for your circumstances, then it should be on a strictly Pay-as-you-go basis as far as I´m concerned. Kids have got to learn the value of $$ from somewhere.
Having said that my girls are only one now, probably by the time they are five, they´ll be the only ones in school without a phone!
To give you an age, in answer to your question, I think turning thirteen is a good time to give them their first phone on a trial (responsibility) basis.
Well Becca, I would say that this is a really hard question. Regardless of the money associated with having a cell phone, there are two sides you have to consider.
1. The potential negative influence on the health (if used too much).
2. Keeping up with other kids as most of them already have one and your kid is going to feel usually very bad not having a mobile as well.
To be honest I even try not to use microwave or Bluetooth as they work on a similar frequency as cell phones or Wireless networks.
The fact is that in general you don't have to worry about that too much if you use these things not too often. That means that as children are still growing and forming their immunity and everything, I would buy them a mobile phone, however only for keeping up with the technology and friends and for emergency calls only. If you've ever experienced some sort of headache after calling with somebody a little bit longer than usually, imagine what impact it can have on a child.
And it's not only with these waves but everything. Their immunity against any negative influences is a lot weaker in comparison to an adult.
I would say about 12 at least. Well, might be earlier since we are getting more modernize daily!
Well i mostly think they should at least be in Middle Skewl or somthin

What age should children be allowed to have a cell phone?Do you feel there is a specific age, is it based on their level of maturity or should the wait until they can pay for it themselves?

What camera do you have? Or do you use your mobile/cell phone for pictures! For everyday use I use a Sony cyber shot DSC HX-5V and I also have an Olymus E-400 but find it a little bulky for my needs.
