    yes it is, and I'm going to have to agree with MickS here as well I don't think it ever was under control but with more social outlets people are becoming more and more obsessed with what celebs are doing... Who cares, they don't make my life any easier or any harder they just make it more entertaining and that's all I want to know about them not who they are or are not sleeping with or what they drive or what they wear or what time they eat sleep run nap sneeze pump gas ... really I don't care...that's why I don't watch too much tv.

    As the previous two hubbers have suggested, the cult of celebrity has been out of hand for longer than I've been alive (almost 4 decades). Why does the reason the 'regular' public continue to support it? Too many people are unsatisfied with their own lives and want to live vicariously through what they perceive to be an ideal lifestyle. Too late they learn that money and power are not the most important aspects of human life.
