   Is it okay for a child to be raised calling a man mommy\women daddy because of parents lifestyle ?
   
   What will happen to our children when this happens as if it's not already being done..

   What people do in their own home, and how they raise their children, as long as they aren't grossly negligent, abusive or in some other way harming their children, is their own damn business.
   
   If a classic family unit wanted their children to call them by their first names, or by other terms such as "Ma" and "Pa" hardly anyone would bat an eye, but for some reason people consider that calling a man "mom" is somehow harmful to the child and offensive to the rest of society.
   
   The fact is, some men make better mothers than their female spouses, and do more "mothering" even if they are called "dad".
   
   Contemporary or homosexual couples should be entitled to be called by their names, or by "mom and dad" or even "Gdog and Jizzle" or anything else they damn well please.

   LOVE THE ANSWERS I AM GETTING. THIS HELPS OUT ALLOT. I PERSONALLY FEEL IT'S BIGGER THAN DO WHAT YOU WANT JUST SHOW LOVE BUT I DON'T CARE. I JUST LIKE TO WATCH THE FLOWER UNFOLD THIS LIFE HAS BECAME MORE OF AN ENTERTAINMENT THEN PURE LIVING. I ENTERTAIN MYSELF WITH WOMEN I LOVE GIRLS BUT MY LIFE IS WITH A MAN. SO I DON'T JUDGE I HAVE LOTS OFF PEOPLE AROUND ME WHO DO WHEN THEY THINK NOT. I WRITE ABOUT IT ALL AND ASK QUESTION TO THE ONES THAT PUZZLED ME..THANKS

   Personally, I don't think the name really makes much difference, a child still knows what the person brings to their life. They may get flak from closed-minded people around them for calling one of their male parents "mom", or one of their female parents "dad", but that is not their problem. I agree that a child should be able to call their parents by any name that is agreed upon within the family. If children would get gender confusion from these sorts of names, then I would point out that "role confusion" already happens all the time from what the general population thinks is "dad's role" versus "mom's role," and perhaps it indicates more of a need to update our thinking of what makes a mom or a dad -- or what should be applied to women only, versus men only.
   
   I am reminded of an incident a very short while ago with my 4-year-old. His stepmom has encouraged him to call her "Mom", which he does. However, possibly because of what he's seen about the differing roles played in each of his houses (my ex-husband and his wife, versus me and my husband), he very confidently declared to me that I am his real mom, and his stepmom is his real dad. He knows he has a "real" parent and a step parent in each house, and that's what makes sense to him.

   every situation is diffrent but I think as long as the child is cared for properly without any physical or emotional abuse there shouldn't be any misunderstandings when the child is being brought up make it clear you are a man not a women so the child dosn't recieve a ugly surprse! this is my opionion but what is right is to be truthful with a child so they don't get dissapointed or worse loss there trust! because then they think it's okay to lie. Everyone knows nobody can be a perfect role model but we should raise them the best we can with help of friends and family that is! good luck with situation.
