I started a blog, how to I get traffic to it?

I already have around 30 posts and a lot of friends think it's hilarious. I just want to spread the word on it.

share your links on your favorite social networking sites.  Myspace, facebook, twitter; etc.  I'm getting a lot of traffic from reddit.com. . . but those folks can be brutal, and they almost never leave comments.  Your friends on networking sites will leave comments-but you won't get nearly as much traffic there.

Write for search engines with rich long-tail keywords, do the essential seo for the site, build a sitemap and submit to search engines. Get one, two high quality backlinks and pray for the free search engine traffic.

Register your blog with Stumbleupon and Technorati. Stumbleupon will get you lots of visitors, but not a lot of comments, and hardly any ad clicks. Technorati will get you more comments.

Plus, a lot of bloggers give stuff away to get comments. They will post on Twitter that they are giving away something, and to register, you only have to comment on that post. Gets a lot of traffic and a short term Google boost.

Do you have favorite blogs? I comment regularly to a few great blogs and they responded by doing the same to mine. Commenting to other blogs also invites THEIR readers to browse your blog (try to leave interesting, quirky, or funny comments and you'll gain some new traffic and hopefully regular readers!)

Guest post on other blogs, comment on other blogs, hook your blog up to Twitter and pump your Twitter account to get more followers. Create a Facebook Fan page and ask your friends to join.  Put the FB box on your blog.

Those things have worked the best for me.
