What Should One Do To Avoid The One Word Answers From Teenage Children? You Ask Her Who Are You..
Dating And The Answer You Get Is A Simple ‘Nobody’. You Ask Him How The Day Was And The Answer You Get Is A Simple ‘OK’. These One Word Answers Are Likely To Make One Insane, But These Youngsters Seems Not Bothered About That. What Should One Do To Avoid The One Word Answers From Teenage Children?
You could try asking 'what do you think about.........'? Engae them in conversation by talking abit about things that they are interested. Then they might get more used to talking. Teenagers feel very uncomfortable with adults. You could ask them questions while flicking through a magazine, then they won't feel under so much pressure.
Make the most of every opportunity when your teen initiates a conversation - usually when they're after money or a lift somewhere, NEVER be too busy to talk to them when they approach you.
Ask open questions and try not to sound as if it's an interrogation. Try to have a family meal at the table as often as possible and encourage plenty of chat.
If you really want to know what they're up to hack into their Facebook account!
The best way to get your teen to open up to you is to spend a lot of time with them when you aren't asking any questions. Parents can spend time listening to music with their teen or doing something with them that they are interested in. Teens will naturally open up to parents questions once they feel close to them. Parents who spend a lot of time criticizing or yelling at their teen are unlikely to get any of their questions answered. I talk more about how to have a closer relationship with your teen in this hub:

Redirect them with a comment or more questions to show them you are interested and if they feel you are being pushy or nosy appeal t their sense of gossip but make it about them. Open ended and is still a question. Instead of who are you...ask is your name (use wrong name) for a kid you don't know. I heard...or make an opinion about something that interest them...I remember my English teacher made us do...what is your paper you did this week. challenge them to think and bait them to explain themselves like you don't understand what they are saying. they love to gossip

When I draft a longish answer (say 300 to 500 words) to a question, I'm given a box with only 3 little lines to write the answer into. I scroll up, scroll down, can't see what I've written. I save, look, edit, look again, save again, look, etc. This is so inconvenient, it's driving me barmy...

I'm interested in your thoughts. Not how. I'm not interested in the idea that a god did it or not. I am interested in your thoughts on why there is something instead of nothing.

The religious forums for the most part are highly contentious and not for the faint of heart and sensitive of disposition. Only those who are strong mentally can and do surivive, even thrive. The rest of us mortals find it BEST to avoid such contention and argument. Name...
