Words in a hub that cause ads to become disabled.
All of my hub ads were disabled due to words that google deems inappropriate. I have edited and edited and still the ads wont appear. Do any of the following words constitute a disabling of google ads? porn, pornography, addict, addiction, sex, sexy, alcohol, alcoholic, AA, casino, masturbation, casual encounters. Yeah, I know this looks bad but its tastefully included in my story. Without these words, there's no point in my story....
With those words, you may not run AdSense ads.
Google is powered by algorithms that are largely unintelligent. They don't know the context in which you use those terms, and in most cases, will show PSAs (Public Service Ads) or be disabled.
PSAs are advertisements shown for unpaid non-profits and, as a result, will not reward you or HubPages any clicks.
In addition, AdSense advertisements may not be shown on pages that reference many of those things, as all AdSense publishers agree in the Terms of Service that all content is "Family Safe."
In other words, anything you write, you should be comfortable having on your screen in front of your boss, your mom, or your child.
You should take the time to read the AdSense Terms of Service. If HubPages has disabled your ads, then they are protecting you (and themselves) from having your AdSense account permanently disabled and your SSN blocked by Google.
I wrote an article on sex education, that was fine with words like sex, contraception, pregnancy, menstruation, birth control, and STDs.
It got flagged, I think when I mentioned m%$turbation and/or h#$djobs (I couldn't submit my answer with those words spelled out) . They were only mentioned, not in any way described. Once flagged I'm not sure you can go back by removing the words. I tried removing them for a couple days and it didn't do any good.
I was still able to publish mine, just doesn't have ads.
Of the words you mentioned m#$turbation seems the most likely culprit. Maybe porn as well.
You said story. Are you referring to a fiction piece? The first ten and the last word I can understand, but don't see how m@sturb@tion can be crucial to a story. On the other hand, I didn't write it, so I wouldn't know. About to go find out though.
Maybe try intentionally misspelling it. Or using a different word. I have a hub whose ads are disabled. (Teddy Bear.) I'm guessing its because there are a few curses in it, but it might be the gun play. The hub isn't any worse than you would see on an episode of CSI. I don't really care about the ads though. I care about readership.
I got side tracked. Try a different word. Space the word funny. Put Master Baton or something.
Just read it. Not fiction. Good luck to you
