Is America a Christian or pagan nation?
I am studying this issue in America today and would like to have your honest opinion. You may be an atheist, Buddhist, Christian Muslim etc…, but I would like to have your answer according to your impression of the constitution, history, and how the government is set up. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Neither. However, there were many strong Christian beliefs behind the founding members of congress. The principles of God and the bible were, without question, the driving force behind most. That being said, the Constitution does not allow the government to mandate any religion, thus we are not a Christian nation. Just a nation that is largely Christian. It might even be argued that it leans toward the pagan end of things.
America is a nation founded on Christian principles which emphasize the belief that man is free to elect his direction, his religious preference, and to pursue happiness in whatever form he may choose as long as it respects the rule of law. There are many examples of Christian religion and belief in a higher being throughout our democratic system includeing the money, government symbols, pray, references to God, etc. It is only in recent years that a minority has attained enough voice in the legal arena to surpress some of this symbolism...what a sad circumstance. America's plight today is that every sect who comes to this country thinks the country should change to honor their needs and beliefs and they have to make no concessions to be an American...what a poor understanding of the concept of citzenship. WB
America, as we know her today, is very far removed from the community which struggled to give birth to a nation.
We have twisted, turned, accepted, reasoned, dared to be fair to others, to such a degree that little of our founding parents is recognizable.
We are not the same America, founded here over 200 years ago. We are not..........it pains me to say this.
While I struggle to defend the USofA, promote the great dream, build a solid foundation........the fact is, I am surrounded by those of a different mindset.
"America" has been sold. She has been cheapened, given of herself too freely, accepted too much in the names of humanity, acceptance , tolerance and recently, political correctness. She went the way of the blue light special.
As a Christian, living in the USofA today, no, I am not surrounded by fellow Christians. I am alone here. I am the oddity. When I do unite with a fellow believer, we are expected to carry the blame for all ills.
This is what Jesus did................As you know, He was crucified.
Many of the founding fathers didn't even like Christianity. The constitution was loosely based on Native American morality, that being that all men are created equal and they thought of God more in a deism sense. Ironic because of the slaughter of the native Americans and the slave trade that was going on. However the intent was for America to be a nation where citizens were free to practice whichever religion they wished to, as long as it was kept out of government. The christian right has invaded the system and now there is almost an unwritten rule that presidential candidates must be christian. If a Muslim or atheist ran, it'd be an uproar, which was not the intention. Jefferson would have preferred no religion at all especially in office, and based on George Bush's performance as a Christian Fundamentalist president, it's a sound argument.
Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, and Hamilton did not care about Christianity. Regardless, it was considered proper in their day to give thanks to a divine creator in public speeches. Today, I would call the US a Christian nation. This is simply a fact--most Americans are Christians. Most of our court system and many of our laws are based on the precedents of English Common Law, which is based on Judeo-Christian law. This, however, has nothing to do with our constitution. The Constitution gave a framework for establishing a way to support and govern a mercantile society. About half the founders wanted our republic to be based on the republics of Venice or that of the Netherlands--commercial powers with global trade aspirations. The other half of the founders disagreed and wanted to see us become the Roman Republic instead. They wanted a society based on land ownership with a weak government and strong militia; instead of standing armies. Our government was established around money and commerce. That is who we are. Christianity can be found in our laws, but not our institutions. Christianity is in our society, but not in our government.
Most of the world's Common Folks ... Believe in God. Americans are no exception, to The Divine Rule.
But, there are always a "few" in every human Society ... In, The Lord's Ordination ... whose Satanic existence Depends on creating Doubts, and, with doubt, creating human Dissension.
Thus, these "few" are the real Heretics; Secular Rationalists, Politicians, Pagans, Socialists, Capitalists, Existentialists, Scientists, Republicanists ... and God knows ... what other names they are known by ...
These criminals, are enemies of God, thus, His Created, Totality ... including, Humankind... they are destroyers of Life, and Peace... for they are not as they claim, the creators ... of Love, Peace and Harmony.
These fools ... deliberately "create" ... "Inter-human" dissensions ... For their Material lives, Pleasures, and Powers, depend upon Squabblings, between, Believers ... and most of the Common Folks are Gullible, because of their "slot" in a materialistic Society ... created by the nefarious ones.

Do you think the Founding Fathers intended a Christian Nation? This question is in specific reference to two important pieces of legislative evidence. Both, the 1st Amendment and the Treaty of Tripoli (Article 11). Keep in mind that the Treaty was ratified by many of the original founding fathers,...

As far as this whole Separation of Church and State thing in the United States is concerned, I personally believe that it is necessary. For example, the words “Separation of Church and State” are not physically found in the US Constitution. Yet it does say that, quote:“No law shall be passed...

Were the founding fathers of this country Christians? I have always been under the impression that our country was founded by people who were escaping religious persecution. Why then, do so many people claim that this country was created under Christianity? I could be wrong, but I...
