What side of the climate change debate are you on?
i read a hubpages article that showed the reader didn't support the idea that climate change is real and a problem. his comments section only had commenters who supported his views so I figured i'd join in and speak up for the believers. it started a back and forth debate which I posted, in its entirety, on my blog, chaosbeyond.blogspot.com. i'm curious to know what side the majority of hubbers are on in the great climate debate!
I'm on the side of people who know what they are talking about (ie: scientists).
Yes , Ok , so climates change , they always have and always will, Natural climate change is far more an entity than man made however. The natural cycles of change go up and down , hence , how many ice ages have there been , as do warming spells. We will know in a few decades when all the fossil fuels are used up . It seems more an issue of devisiveness for exteme PC. though.
My feeling is that the conservative population here is in the majority and so the deniers maybe outnumber the supporters. But, probably not by much. People probably are more likely to follow those they agree with so lots of times comment sections are very one-sided.
I've had plenty of discussions like the one you had. I didn't read all of it, but it seemed like ultimately his best argument was an appeal to "common sense".
A lot of people talk about common sense these days. So much so that I'm not really sure what it is even supposed to mean anymore which is kind of ironic. It seems like it is used to support anything people hold to without evidence. But that is simply faith.
Ultimately, I agree with Maembe. I'm on the side of evidence and the scientists.
Extreme weather cycles happens over eons and mankind's footprint is just making the changes faster over a very short term.

I don't believe the current global warming we're experiencing is man made, and I'm a liberal. Lately, you can score a few points for my camp. If you've been watching the news lately, we're sort of going through a global economic recession that's reducing fuel consumption yet global warming is inceasing regardless. The economic recession has defacto put the world in what the climate scientists recommended, and it's yielded no changing results. In addition, I believe what we're experience is a coming ice age rather than a coming volcanic age. Ice ages always start with a spike of global warming until we go into a massive cooling stage.
The climate debate is irrelevant. The cost of inaction is too high to risk and the rewards for taking action outweigh any cost... I wrote a hub on this very topic a little while ago which may help to illustrate. http://hubpages.com/hub/Global-Warming-Risk-Management
The concept that man has influenced the climate due to the industrial revolution is absurd and a disinformation propaganda program that is quite effective. Because the majority of the World's population does not use critical thinking when events happen and prefer being told what to think, the truth is often obscured by the facts.
The industrial revolution has been going on for 175 years, while the planet has been warming for thousands of years. As a matter of fact every planet in our solar system is warming, NASA has confirmed this. How many SUV's are being operated on Jupiter ATM?
NASA has confirmed that the Poles are shifting at the gradual rate of 40 miles a year. Scientists have recently released information on the many (300) Volcanoes that are active on the Ocean floors.
In order to not panic the public and keep people from leaving jobs en mass, TPTB have created this concept. Since it can't be proven much like Darwinism, it in affect keeps people chasing their tails and arguing amongst themselves.

There are two major would shaping forces at risk with a Trump presidency; an economic meltdown brought on by a sharp decline in American productivity, and, a much more important one, the environment. I will leave the economy to another forum, for it is the environment I am much more worried...

Why do you not believe in Global Warming/Climate Change?I have no doubt our earth is warming at an alarming rate. One of the reasons I think this is because of the photo I included with the question. Otzi--the Iceman--was frozen over 5000 years ago and has remained that way through all sorts of...
