When do I consider putting my dog to sleep shes only 15mths old Im scared shes suffering in silence
my 15 month old american buldog whom I rescued at the age of 12 weeks is dying from renal failure, she went in to hospital last wednesday because she suddenly became ill shaking being sick and refusing food and water, vet says she has 4 to 5 % kidney function left and said all we can do now is make her comfortable in her final days as hydration therapy in hospital did nothing to improve her health it actually got worse shes home now and being cuddled and cared for by her family, she wont eat or drink Im trying to force this but cant without her suffering and being sick and just sleeps all day
It's probably time to end the suffering sometimes we postpone the inevitable because of our own discomfort. it becomes a point of whos is more important ours or thiers , I'm sorry for your suffering ......
If there is no hope, and the vet says he cannot do anything, then it is time. Let her go. It will be painful for you, but a relief for her.
It's probably time for the last hugs, draped with tears and sorrow. Our Good Lord says in 1st Peter, second chapter, verse 19: "For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly."
May God give you the peace that is beyond understanding and I'll pray, that that peace draws you closer to Him.
There are brighter days ahead. May God bless you.
Sincerely in Jesus,
W.
Sadly, I think it's time. Both of my loves, one 12 yrs old and one 15, spent their final hours being held and loved in their home. When we realized there was no hope and that our dogs seemed to no longer enjoy life and/or were suffering, we asked to have them put down at home. I couldn't bear to let it be done in an unfamiliar place.
It was hard, and even now, a year and a half later, I still grieve as I write this. It took several years with my second dog before I started getting attached again. I think, right now, you need to make the decision to let go for your pup's sake. What has helped me is the belief that they do go to heaven and they too meet up with those they loved. I know the pain to you can't be avoided but I will say a prayer that it be eased for you.
Think of it this way - you're pet has suffered lots and its time for it to rest peacefully. Don't prolong the sufferings as I know it's really hard to lose a pet. But do what's best and even though you'll feel sad you'll find inner peace
I would have already put her down. She is suffering, If she is not eating or drinking, then she is also slowly starving to death.
