   Scientifically speaking, if Superman was real would it be possible for him to impregnate  Lois Lane?
   
   If you place Superman in the realm of reality, would he be able to have sex with the woman he loves and if so could he impregnate her?  Please try your best to produce a real world scenario using humans and aliens as examples in your answer.  Thank you.

   I would say yes to sex, and no to pregnancy.
   
   Superman has a humanlike body, and every part we can see looks human, so we can presume that the parts we can't see for modesty's sake also look human. He eats as we do and sleeps as we do, so we can presume his other biological functions are like ours.
   
   But we know that his genetics are entirely different from ours. His DNA is not a match for ours. Therefore, his chromosomes can't match up with Lois's chromosomes and create a child.

   Great response Deb, but think about this; In a sexual encounter with a human female would he be able to control himself during moments of passion?  As most of us know during some moments of passion we do lose control of our bodies due to unconditioned responses.  He could end up breaking her in half or during climax it could get really messy, and not in a good way.

   Yes he'd be able to have sex.If he was real and as depicted i imagine it would be possible to impregnate also. Creatures do not need to be exact genetic matches in order to be able to procreate together, for example  tigers and lions can mate to produce Ligers (Lion & Tigress) and Tigons (Tiger & Lioness). That's no guarantee mind you but with sufficient genetic similarity i imagine it's a possibility if a bit of a long shot.The proof would be in the pudding as they say.They could always go for some 'Super IVF' lol

   Well, for starters. . . .how could he be "super," and a "man" were his extra human powers not so extensive that they diminished his humanity?
   
   Nietzsche's moo stash. . . .probably hindered his giving life to a. . . .(possibly) first generation "overman" - luckily, we were able to dumb Nietzsche down, shave his metaphysical. . . .bastard love child's lips, and sell him to the masses as a symbol of how Righteous we are as a people.  Sadly, some people bother to think about what things mean, and . . .get this, assign value relative to other established values.

   I don't think so. Superman evolved on a different planet, which means he should be more genetically different from us than anything else on Earth. Basically, she's more likely to be impregnated by a giraffe.
   
   Then again, a miraculous kind of parallel evolution makes him at least appear human, so it is theoretically possible that he's genetically compatible.
   
   Has there ever been a comic where they showed Superman's karyotype?

    Absolutely not.  Well, at least not in the traditional way.
    
    Let's assume that human and Kryptonian DNA are compatible - unlikely as we would need to assume some kind of common evolutionary path.  But, let's assume for the sake of argument that somehow, human DNA and Kryptonian DNA are compatible.  If Superman and Lois used the traditional way of mating, Superman would be subject to the same loss of control that men have in "arrival".
    
    Superman has always viewed his strength level to be like working within a house of cardboard.  Given that he needs to control his strength ever moment of his waking existence, a moment of lost control could be fatal to any Earthling. This involuntary muscle movement of "secretion" during a sexual climax would pack a force akin to the velocity of a 9mm bullet, easily killing Lois in the process.
    
    No, the only way for Superman to impregnate Lois is through a method of artificial insemination.  Provided that semen and egg are compatible, the fertilized egg would need to be placed back within Lois in a sunlight free environment.  It is fortunate that the fetus would not be exposed to yellow sunlight throughout the term and the labor.  Superman's powers (post crisis) developed very slowly and Lois could survive the rigors of childbirth.
    
    The trick is getting through the conception.

    of course it would be. his sperm is like supersperm they will bust through any of her defenses and impregnate her. probably the very first sperm. infact superman only shoots 1 single sperm because its all that is needed.

    It is possible but not likely, Super men is an alien, his DNA strain most likely would be very different from anything on this planet and when genetic code are too different pregnant is not possible.  But, if by one in trillion chance by coincident (the chance is so slim, it is not possible) it resemble human DNA then yes

    Absolutely not. Remember, Superman is invulnerable, and super-strong. Any "passionate" action on his part to a creature as frail as a human female would be disastrous.  You should read Robert Silverberg's (science fiction grand master) take on this; he wrote an article that is very good and appears, in part, in one of the answers on this forum.
