Do you feel that the Democratic and Republican parties are for the most part, corrupt?

The fact of the matter is, yes they are. When you see people who work for political parties and its regulatory agencies later on going to work for lobby groups or chairmen for a company, then you know there is something wrong going on in politics.

EDIT: So what Credence2 is saying, is it isn't a question of IF the government is corrupt, but how much.

    I for one agree.

They all are as politics is often times intrinsically corrupt, but there is a matter of degree and therein lies the difference in the two political parties in my opinion.

There is a quote, I believe from Thomas Jefferson, that states roughly, mistrusts anyone who runs for office.  I believe that this holds true today.  Running a community, regardless of size, is a difficult task that the best people never apply for, which is why the founding fathers were assigned to certain tasks.  So, in the long of it, yes, I believe that they're all corrupt, and no one is to be trusted who runs for any political office.

Misguided, yes. Corrupt? Not as much as before. Watergate and other politically related scandals helped mitigate most of the corruption.

    Credence2 is right though.

Dems are part of a machine that takes bribes to raise money and win elections, while the Republicans are fundamentally crooked. "There is but one party in the US and it has two right wings: Democrat and Republican."

The parties themselves - for the most part, no.  A party, it seems to me, represents a set of values focused on a particular ideal.  And by 'ideal', I mean both definitions:  the principle and the utopia/"perfect" situation.

I think "extremists" - those on either far end of the conservative/liberal continuum who might even be so militant as to have a "by any means necessary" or "the ends justify the means" attitude, and view the "other" through a moral lense, can be very corrupt.

Politicians who are focused on "their" party, and/or especially those whose main priorities have to do with reputation and political career advancement - who truly see the world as functioning by "appearance" as much as or even more than truth - and who act accordingly - yeah, they're corrupt as hell.

As is the system, inasmuch as it has become one that is teetering toward self-preservation rather than serving the needs of the society that created it.
