Is it bad-hub-manners to post a link to your hub in the comments section of another hubber?
You've posted your hub. You did your hard work and research and you feel it's worthy of publishing. Another hubber comments on your hub (yay!) but you discover that their comment is stating "I did a better review on my own hub, here is my link". Is this poor hub manners?
I have not been on HubPages long, but, to me, this seems like improper etiquette. The appropriate response, in my eyes, would be to offer feedback and to provide editorial suggestions.
That being said, the world of journalism and writing can be highly competitive and cutthroat. I definitely understand the value of healthy competition. It sets the standard for all articles on HubPages to be of higher caliber.
They might suggest that an author take a cue from their own hub, without directly posting the url. Asking the author search it out, puts the impetus is on him/her to take an active role in self-improvement.
Like I said, I am new and unaware of the etiquette here. This, however, seems like the most democratic option to me.
IMHO, yes, that's rude.
I have all my hubs set for comment moderation, so I rarely publish comments that contain links. And I would jump especially fast to delete any that said another hub was better than mine. I don't think I've had that happen, but I would be royally PO'd at someone who was insensitive enough to write a comment like that and then expect for me to publish their link.
HubPages is a community of authors/writers who often support and encourage each other. In this spirit, always be generous with your link sharing of other hubbers and be considerate when someone mentions their hub. Together we can do amazing HubPages things, as individuals we are just single online writers. WITH THAT BEING SAID, some rules and etiquette do apply;
If another hubber talks about their hub within a comment capsule on a similar topic it can be frustrating, but not necessarily bad manners. If they post their link in your comments section, that would be considered in very poor taste, and I actually think it is a violation. Sometimes I will post another hubbers links in my comments section (of my own hubs) if I feel it will add perspective, offer another view point, or simply as a courtesy to a HubBuddy. All in all, don't post your links in another hubbers comment capsule. If you find this is happening, change your comment setting to "moderate" so you can review and deny unacceptable or spammy comments and delete them forever as you see fit.
I hope this helps~

I expect sincere feedback to the hubs I publish and it's easy to spot a comment that's intended to promote the commenter's hub rather than to give an honest opinion about my article.
So to me, yes, it's offensive and like WordPlay I disapprove comments that contain inappropriate links.
I haven't been here a terribly long time yet but, I have had a few people respond to my stuff with one of their links. I think it would be better for them to just simply mention that they have written a similar article, and then that way, I can go look if I want to, but it does seem a bit self indulgent to post your work on someone else's article comment section.
I agree that it's not great etiquette. And.... I think I may have done it once or twice when i first started posting. I think I didn't know the "rules" and was so excited to see someone else who had written something similar and wanted to share what I had done! So, agreed, but also be nice to learning (and excited) newbees! Maybe write them privately, with a link to this answer forum.

I am not looking to name names here as this happens quite a lot on Hubpages, but can someone please clarify whether or not it is against the rules for a Hubber to come to your hub, leave a comment and then include a link to one of their own hubs as a part of that comment. I know it says under each...

Since this feature was deleted, HP staff have told us that this would be reinstated. It does not matter to all of us, but I know that in my case the readers find it very helpful. A former staff member told me last year that this would become a reality in June of 2021. That did not happen. If it is...

In the past, from my profile page, in the hubtivity section, I could click "this comment" to go directly to the comment I previously posted on someone's Hub. Doesn't seem to be working now. Instead, I just get landed at the top of the destination Hub.It's a funny sensation. I keep waiting...

One of my hubs got a comment which seemed like a sales pitch - it's a link to a specific product. Should I allow it? Thanks.

Several followers have let me know via email and otherwise, that they are unable to post a comment on my new hub! One even said that I could copy and paste her comment via email into my hub, which I tried and all it does is take me back to the top of my hub. Please HP Team help me...
