Gout is the worst pain i ever had, I had broken my ankle ten years earlier and i thought i had broken it again.
gout is the build up of uric acid i cannot be treated when it is active but you can only keep your feet up as much as you can .when the flare up subsides your doctor will prescribe allipurinol which should keep it at bay.just walking to the toilet was agony for me. you shouls avoid acidic drinks such as cider white wine etc.
eating cherries is supposed to help but i did not find it to be  much help. I was laid up for 4 weeks untill i could get the medication it is one pill i do not forget to take.

My husband suffers severely from it. There are more than one medicine which can be used to treat gout. It's best to discuss it with your doctor. Some of the meds can also throw you into an acute gout attack. This is why it is imperative to discuss it with your doctor.
We have discovered my husband has to avoid many of the foods which cause a gout flare-up. In order, to avoid an attack, my husband has had to change his eating habits. He has to avoid anything made with tomato......Red meats are another problem for him as well. If you go online or talk to a dietician or nutritionist, they can supply you with a list of foods to avoid or eat in moderation.
Peanuts, dried beans, red meats, tomato, shelled fish........these are only a few. I hope this helps you.

Not personally, but I have looked after a patient who suffered from Gout - the pain is excrutiating but luckily after a couple of treatments the pain did begin to subside. We also got him advice on his diet so that he could avoid another flare up. It's a nasty condition!

I have known people who have suffered from it.  I read up on it some time ago.  It is supposedly a buildup of uric acid, which is helped by drinking dark cherry juice and eating celery.
