   Is it in bad taste for hubbers to respond to a question or hub with their own link?
   
   I have been  noticing people putting their own links into an answer or comment.  To me, it seems sort of rude to the hubber.  What do you think?

   I don't think so, as long as it's relevant and adds to the discussion. If it's just posted as, "Hey, click on my Hub!" then not so much.

   I don't mind if it is closely related to the topic of my hub, but if it is a link to promote their own blogs or marketing websites, I usually delete it off the comments section.

   It irritates me too, but mostly because the ones I have seen don't seem to have much to do with the topic.  I don't like others advertising on my hub, because I wouldn't do it on theirs.
   
   Only on rare occasion, if the hubber asks a question or needs some help, and and I would link a hub no matter who had written it, I could see a link then. I haven't done that though, because I haven't come across that situation.

   In the Answer section (here), a lot of questions can be best answered with a link to a Hub.  In the comments section on a Hub, a lot more authors are going to interpret links left there as being spam or an attempt at a backlink.

   I would just mention that I wrote a hub about something before linking to it... but if the hub directly answers the question, no problem linking to it.

   I think it's OK, it matters what's in the comment, if it's a thoughtful comment it's good for the post. If the comment is not useful or nice, even if it doesn't have a link it's still not a good comment.
   So it all depends on the comment and how it's written.

   i dont think so. if you have a link that provides valuable information and answers the question i find it quite useful.

   I think if the link adds to the answer it's ok otherwise it is something I wouldn't want to read. Yes then it wouls be rude and insulting to the one who asks the question.

    I think this is one of those "you're never going to please everybody" kind of questions.  I wouldn't mind at all so long as the intent was to help - others will probably not like the idea on principle.
    
    As long as it's not spamming then I wouldn't have a problem with it at all.

    If their hub is relevant to the question, then I would actually welcome it.  Otherwise, I would have to agree with you.
