Why was President Barak Obama avoiding  the Super Committee negotiations?

The President promised transparency in his administration if elected. We the people deserved to see and hear what the Super Committee members were proposing in the last days of the committee's meetings. Meetings behind closed doors is the NORM for Obama and this Congress.

That's his style.  Lead from behind.  Look at what he let Pelosi/Reid do in his first 2 years legislatively.  Look at what he did in Libya.

For the super committee, he was just planning on letting them do the work and if he liked it, he would put his name on it and if he didn't he'd run against it. Reactionary but this lead from behind is his pattern.

I think it shows weakness and lacks courage but that's just an opinion.  Even if I didn't agree with his policies, I'd respect it more if he'd get out in front and engage/fight for what he believes in.  That's just not him.

Most likely it was politics.  The committee was not expected to get anything done and they didn't disappoint.  By avoiding contact he can claim it was congress not him that failed.  This is the group we elected and we will re-elect most of them.  I would love to see some independent candidates that don't tow the party line and do think for themselves.

The fight is all about PAY-GO legislation .OBAMA AND THE DEMS PASSED IT TO LOOK GOOD BEFORE THE 2010 ELECTION. Extending the payroll tax holiday costs the treasury $100 billion+. The Republicans will agree to pass it BUT the Dems want to add the cost to the deficit .IT 'S A DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR DEAL. You spend, you cut governmenet somewhere.

    2/13/10 2:04 PM EST     (TODAY IS NOV.30,2011)
President Barack Obama is hailing pay-as-you-go budget legislation he
signed Friday night as one in a series of crucial steps needed to snap
Washington out of a destructive pattern of overspending.
“Now, Congress will have to pay for what it spends, just like everybody
else,” Obama said in his radio and Internet address released Saturday
morning. “After a decade of profligacy, the American people are tired of
politicians who talk the talk but don’t walk the walk when it comes to
fiscal responsibility. It’s easy to get up in front of the cameras and rant
against exploding deficits. What’s hard is actually getting deficits under
control. But that’s what we must do.”
The PAYGO compels NEW SPENDING or TAX CHANGES to not add to the
federal deficit. Not to be confused with pay-as-you-go financing, which
is when a government saves up money to fund a specific project. Under
the PAYGO rules a NEW  proposal must either be "budget neutral"
or offset with savings derived from existing funds.[1] The goal of this
is to require those in control of the budget to engage in the diligence of
prioritizing expenses and exercising fiscal restraint. The interest on
the national debt is $1 billion a day and rising. The unfunded
liabilities of the country is $104 trillion.

The House passed a 2012 budget in Feb, Obama and the Senate have not submitted a 2012 budget which according to rules was to be completed in Feb 2011.Two thirds of our GOVERNMENT is AWOL.

President Obama and the Democrat majority controlled Congress
disregard the Laws and in some instances the Constitution.

Jay Carney: "The president put forward a plan mid-September, a highly detailed and comprehensive plan, laying out exactly what he believed the super committee should do"

There--he did his job. The executive part.
Next it was up to the legislative part....and you know for a fact, the R part of this equation has NO intention of doing anying that would remotely touch the president's plan.

They are obstructing, not governing. Per order of the R top echelon. And anyone who doesn't know that by now, is not paying attention, or is in denial.

"If you look at what Democrats on the super committee did, they went very far in terms of their willingness to agree to spending cuts and other savings. So we've seen a lot of movement in our party, and the president's leadership has to do with that."

The Republicans, on the other hand, refuse to increase revenue as part of the deal. No higher taxes, even though the plan would affect only .02% of Americans.....and even though these are the Americans who have taken all the benefit of the last 35 years!!

They are governing for their base: the top .02%
And it's called say no to Obama (Gingrich memo)
And it's called Our goal is to get Obama out (McConnell)

To hades with any American under one million in income. PERIOD. That is the R stand. IMO. And Obama can't do anything about that. WE need to vote them out!

    Jon,
This is easy, what do little kids do when their parents give them a job they did not do....Or when the parents are talking about grown-up issues?
The children go hide in their room or go to a friends house  TO AVOID the situation.
Besides Obama's aggressive use of speeches would not hve much effect on people who spposedly know things.
Lets face it what the hell could he have added??? Nothing to stimulate the economy - nothing of real use to create jobs or anything useful to USA Barry O has done nothing but cut the USA down Nothing that supports the USA once he was elected- he stopped even feigning that he even had a sliver of US pride-...
Listen to his wife "for the first time I am proud to be an American."
They both need a new job-although he wont stop once he is ousted he will rev up the blame machine even worse mark those words - he will again go off continent and cut us down....As for meeting behind doors- thats the only way the sound bites of his evil agenda, stupidity and lack of experience will be hidden.
    TH
