Depends on what the edit is. In fact, it's essential to tweak keywords, etc., in order to adjust it so that it ranks.

I have had more traffic when I edit a hub, but I think it has to do with the type of edit you do.  If you make it better, it is more likely to get more traffic than if the quality stays the same.  There will probably be a little blip upwards because there is recent content, but it will go back down if you don't increase the quality.

Taking out the typos and grammar mistakes, making sure there are good keywords in the title, and tweaking the content to make it as rich as possible, adding capsules if it helps the reader, will all increase the quality of the hub, and make rank higher and bring traffic for the long run.

Yes, it most certainly DOES bring more traffic to the hub.  Here's the thing though - you only want to mess with it when you are sure that you found a way to IMPROVE the hub.

Now, I don't care if you're improving the readability of your text, adding some text, adding a video, adding a very much relevant link from here or somewhere else to your hub, or finding a new and better picture for your hub, or maybe even changing the keywords that you ever so wisely titled your picture's capsule with...or even moving pictures around from above, below, or to the side of your wisely titled with keywords multiple text capsules - if you improve the looks of the page, or the text presentation of the page, add value by adding relevant and related links with keyword titles for the link capsule.....there's a TON of stuff you can ALWAYS do to make a hub BETTER.

I've yet to see one I thought was "perfect," sad thing is...it's easier for me to see what I think needs to be done to someone else's hubs than my own.
