Why is marriage so important on earth if it does not exist in heaven?

I often wonder why God made marriage so important if it ends here on earth?  Just curious, I guess...

I don't believe heaven exists. I'm worm bait when I die. I don't believe in God, but I do believe in love, and true love more specifically. Marriage is important because it showcases true love. True love is one of the meanings of life, that is why marriage is important.

I'm thinking that the needs that marriage meets for people here on earth no longer exist when in the presence of God himself. God meets them. Just my two cents ...

What makes you think it ends in heaven? A young boy died and went to heaven for about 40 seconds. He saw his unnamed sister who died in a miscarrage. He also saw his grandfather. So family does exist in heaven.

I dont think anything that we do here on earth realy has much to do with heaven. God doesn't care how much money you make, or what car you drive...he's probably more concerned that we tore down trees for the buildings we work at to make that money, and the damage we do to the earth with the fumes from the cars we drive!
What does matter in the end is what we did here, how we treated this earth and the people here on this earth while we were here. As for marraige - I didnt see God send Eve down to Adam with a Marraige Certificate, but he did only give Adam one partner. So I do believe in manogamy, but I guess as for marraige, that is just what our society has placed on monogamous relationships for them to be recognized for legal purposes - that part has nothing to do with God or heaven. But this is just my opinion.

Without having been to heaven I would imagine that the "civilization" or order of things would not require many of the moral institutions that we look to on earth. Presumably everyone who makes it to heaven is in lock step agreement with the higher power. My guess is there is no sex or child rearing in heaven.
The structure of a family is designed to help provide order within a civilization. Much of what is needed on earth to healthily function would not be required in a “sin free” environment. (I'm just guessing...)

Marriage is important because we have created this as a societal ideal (one I don't necessarily ascribe to). No idea if heaven sanctifies it too.

Marriage is not important.  The marriage social system is something that is just there, it exist amount humans and most primates and few other memal species.  How this got mix in with our religion is beyond my understanding.

Simply because there is no heaven to begin with.

It is here on earth that God instigated marriage. Angels in heaven are not created for the purpose of reproducing. They are for another purpose. Angels are messengers. Notice that the first marriage was here on earth with God who solemnized of this first marriage. The two fold purpose of marriage show this.
    1) To populate the earth as God's  purpose in Gen 1:28
    2) As a way for a married couple to enjoy intimacy. Actually a gift from God

Under the guise of religion, we marry "Til death do we part".  However, in reality we marry until the mood hits us to divorce our spouse.  I am agnostic, bordering on atheist, and do not believe in Heaven or Hell.  I believe that marriage is nothing more than a legal arrangement in which we sign a contract stating we will be there financially and legally for another person, with the "emotionally" thrown in for good measure.

In the event that the Heaven my Mom talked of so many times truly does exist, I believe her and my Dad would still be married.  As none of us have ever truly been to Heaven (again, if it truly exists) none of us can testified to whether marriage ends when we leave Earth, or if it continues on for all of time.

Who says it's not in heaven?  In many cultures, it exists in heaven just as here.
