   Is there a Baby Boom?
   
   It seems everyday I hear of a birth or pregnancy announcement.  I have also seen a great deal of twins being born recently.  Am I just starting to pay attention or is there a baby boom?

   Well, for people that were born in North America and most likely have generations of ancestors there isn't most children are being born to foreign born immigrants that have come here. The rest of the population is in drastic decline unfortunately.

   If there is, I truly wish people would read scientist Carl Sagan's book, "Billions and Billions".  It addresses the impact of over-population on this "tiny blue dot" - so far the only planet in the universe on which we can presently can exist.

   I know in our area that there is a baby boom, all the Soldiers have and are returning from a year long deployment. Each time that happens the babies come 8 and 9 months later. So they have been returning for the last 6 months or so we are having babies everywhere.

   Well, if there is indeed a baby boom, then why am I not included among these pregnant ladies?!  :-)
   
   My husband and I managed to produce only one child. After 15 years, nadah...

   In the Philippines, there definitely is. I read a report stating that 2 million is added to our general population annually. I don't know how accurate that information is, but looking at things here it does seem to be that way. And our Congress can't get to pass a reproductive health bill that would help address this problem.

   It's probably a little bit of both.  Birth rates have dropped on a per-capita basis since the onset of the Great Recession.  People hold off on having kids when times are tough, but things are kinda dragging on these days with little hope of significant prosperity on the horizon so now younger people are having families regardless of the situation with society.
   
   It's kinda like buying cars.  Someone who needs to upgrade their vehicle can wait a few extra years before buying a new car, but eventually the thing dies and forces a purchase.

   Does seem like there is.  Wife and I had our boom years ago.  WE have 5 boys.
