How do you get in the mood to write any article/poem/story etc

I often find myself listening to soft melodic classical or contemporary rock music and also I most often write my poems in  the dark just to get really into the mood...How do you get into the writing mood?

I tend to have ideas pop into my head throughout the day and jotting them down.  Once home I can sit in front of my laptop and the words just flow sometimes easily, and sometimes I need a bit of unwinding so a glass of wine always helps.

Writing takes discipline. Getting in the mood, I do not know how since when I write about something, a small voice says write about this or that. It takes me a long time to think about a particular topic. I suppose you can do word association. Oh I used to force myself to write poems in High School, but I am not a poet..so I gave it up..

Nice question! Because it's that same  mood that one should  never allow to be easily disturbed.

The truth is whenever I think about God and life I had better have equiptment handy. All sincere thoughts of himself being alive? Man!

Any music that I love, especially Bob Marley and Michael Jackson those two humans can wake me from a dead of any sleep, to write .

Once I get on the computer after midnight, once nature takes over, on the outside and entertains me with its rich and harmonious sound,.

Once I step outside, I am always prepared, pen and paper handy, to make very sophisticated notes , I would say it's actually short hand scribbles, but I understand it all.

Was not much thinking on that one , it's a special question.
    Bless.

I always try to keep a pad of paper or mini spiral notebook handy wherever I go.  I can be thinking while driving for which I'm thankful for "Voice Notes" on my phone!  I've found walks on the beach to inspire me.  But truthfully, I find that inspiration can hit at any time!

Great question! As a matter of fact I had to exercise this today..
I look at a piece of paper, write random things. *Helps to relax the racing "to do list" After about two pieces of old fashion pen and paper ... the good, juicy creative works begin to flow.

It is like once in a day. I am kind of little lazy but whenever any idea pops up in my mind I just jump off to write it down.  And it is really weird but I write very fast when I am angry on someone or just had a fight. Kind of removing frustration.

It is sort of like doing the dishes for me. Sometimes there is just no possible way to get motivated, but once i get that initial spark I do it asap before losing it.

When you are inspired it flows out of you like chocolate from a lava cake. If you are not it is a huge challenge to get going.

I am not sure how to pinpoint what starts this spark, but I do know how to recognize it and take advantage of it.

Depends if I want it to be professional or not. For example, I'm addicted to HubPages and I constantly want to write critiques and reviews, so motivation is not a problem. Yet in the words of Stephen King, "If you don't spend 4-6 hours a day writing, how can you expect to be a good writer"? So I guess fear from someone I admire helps me - how can I be good if I don't prove that I'm putting the effort into it?

I like to have certain themes such as Hell, WW1, Nazism, the Supernatural.... by having those, I have something to write about. If I don't like one theme, I can look at several others. If none of those work, I like to put my feelings to paper. Maybe I Listen to music and see if I can write to it. ^^
