    Back in the day we used to use just plain old soapy water. Spray it liberally on all your plants paying special attention to the insects when you find them. The soap clogs up their breathing and the little fellers just drop dead. You might check with your local USDA extension office and see if it is still possible to actually buy Lady Bugs to turn loose in your garden. Lady Bugs just LOVE aphids!

    Hey there Livelonger,  I agree with Bobmonger but would add one thing.  Put a small amount of rubbing alcohol in the soapy water.  I don't know why, it just works.  The problem with using pesticidees is that it will kill the lady bugs that love your Aphids.
