Which social bookmarking sites and the like actually increase traffic to hubs?

I've posted links to my hubs on some of those sites (digg, delicious, reddit...) and when log in to HubPages and go to traffic sources (which lists sites where hub traffic comes from along with # of views from those sites) I don't see any of those sites there. Does that mean no one from those sites viewed my hubs?

Yep, pretty much agree with what Wes says, you have to be careful with where you decide to post links to your articles.

All links provide value unless the are on "traffic exchange" sites, in which case they are against Terms of Service for BOTH Google, and Hubpages.

    All other links provide value.

Here is the thing:  You seem to be asking about DIRECT traffic...but when I bookmark something on Yahoo Bookmarks, Delicious, or Google Bookmarks...I am NOT looking for traffic from those sites.

Why do I bookmark to those sites if they give me NO traffic from the site?

Indexing....When I hit "publish" I want my hub indexed right away, and the best way to do that is to spit out some backlinks on different kinds of sites.

Search engines wind up seeing the link, categorizing or indexing the link, and making it available for search results pages for person searching for the thing I've just published, or something relative to whatever I've just published.

So yahoo bookmarks and delicious may never ever EVER give me direct traffic, I know for a fact that they help get me indexed with Yahoo Search Engine.

Yahoo search engine is very much a minor consideration, but it helps too, of course.

You don't even care if anyone from those sites views your hub!!!!!!!!  You don't bookmark for that reason!!!!

Also - the "my account" and "traffic sources" portion of Hubpages is very insufficient for looking at your traffic stats.

You get much better results for traffic on each individual hub by going to individual hubs, and clicking "stats."

Today I've had the most page views I have ever had thanks to Reddit. I posted several hubs there last night and this morning. Who knows how long it will last though. I have previously used Digg and Stumbleupon, both of which gave a small bump, nothing like what I'm currently having with Reddit.

this does work for both traffic and ranking on Google. I have had success on views from the sites already mentioned. Choose about 20 to 50 of the top sites, and submit to each like digg, stumbledupon, etc.

Good and genuine content may always got awesome traffic from search engines. Bookmarks are help to fetch some traffic and increase value of our hub in terms of SEO. Social Bookmarks are the best one.

i've found those sites to be a waste of time - they generate a few extra views, but no revenue - it's mostly people trying to push their own websites

traffic from within HP likewise is of little value if you're trying to make money, for similar reasons.  it's google placement that will drive traffic that may actually be interested in your ads

i've heard lots of folks saying how good these link sites are, but few back it up with actual statistics

    here's some analysis i've done
    http://cascoly.hubpages.com/hub/How-to- … tock-sales

it's aimed at microstock sales in particular, but the info on tags applies  to all hubs

Those sites don't seem to bring much traffic if at all. But placing hub links on those sites might be beneficial for google search rankings of the hub. At least that's what I heard.

StumbleUpon and Digg did not work for my hub. I put most of my hub resume and link there, but just a few traffic. I waste my time with Stumbleupon and Digg. Since Google update with Panda, my traffic decrease, but I try to rewrite my hub and focus on the keyword (but do not put to many keyword). It is work for Google and even for hub which did not have organic link. Thanks
