    he was a badass linebacker and a hell of a citizen from the San Diego Chargers in the 90s and the Patriots in the late 00s. He could bench press 550 pounds and flattened people. He led the Chargers to their only Superbowl and they lost to a dream team in San Francisco who got all these future hall-of-famers for a discount like Richard Dent, Lee Woodall, Charles Mann and Ken Norton Jr. I never read the whole story, but to answer your question as to why they'd kill themselves...brain trauma. The NFL for decades never wanted to acknowledge the long-term effects of hits to the head because they didn't want to end up dolling out pensions. Most of the 85 Bears, including Jim McMahon, struggled with these vicious head injuries well into their late 40s and Dave Duerson, the finest member of their secondary, committed suicide a few months ago.

      This is very interesting.

      You mean long term head injury can lead to actual mental changes, which in turn can lead to suicide?

      Is the same valid for professional boxers and free style wrestlers then?

      A link to the case study could help me a lot.

      yup...same thing that happens to boxers and wrestlers. They've discovered holes in the brain tissue similar to Alzheimer patients.
