Which movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock do you consider his best and why do you think so?
Alfred Hitchcock directed many movies including 'The Thirty Nine Steps', 'Dial M for Murder', 'Rebecca', 'Strangers on a Train', 'North by Northwest', 'Rear Window', 'Vertigo', 'Psycho', 'The Birds', 'Marnie' and many, many more. He was the master. Which one do you think is the best and why?

Staying power to put it simply. It has remained an iconic film for over 50 years. The thrill factor was incredible for its time period. I still have images of the shower scene pop up occassionally.
I think it's The Birds. Why? Just because it was very original. I mean, who else would've thought that birds can be so scary?
Vertigo. I love the melodrama and the waves of emotion. Every scene sucks you into it and demands your attention. It's definitely one of my favourite films.
Psycho to me is an important film as it laid the groundwork for many horror films that came after. Rear Window has been utilized as a plot in many shows and for great reason, it's a classic film full of suspense in the way only Hitchcock could achieve. These two movies for me are my favorite of his, though I love The Birds as well.
Bill ... saw Foreign Correspondent last week and have moved it up there with North by Northwest ... I know "really old guy" ...
Vertigo. It's been called Hitchcock's most beautiful film. Even though it's a sad story, its ethereal. As James Stewart spies on Kim Novak there are long periods without dialogue and this time is enhanced by the use of Bernard Herrmann's score. And the use of location is so well done. There are so many iconic places in and around San Francisco that the film visits. I don't think most movies take advantage of the cities they take place in so thoroughly. My favorite scene is when Novak leads Stewart down an alley. He follows her into a building. The first room is dark and drab, but he opens a door to the most colorful flower shop. It sums up the movie. It's dark and disturbed but its also beautiful.

hmmm... Does anyone know? I was channel surfing and I saw a dog show and it was in the terrier group. But, I tuned in a little late so I didn't get the name of the terrier. Oh, and an interesting fact was that Alfred Hitchcock had one. I'm searching on the internet but I can't seem to find...

Would Alfred Hitchcock like A&E's Bates Motel?Bates Motel is a prequel to Hitchcock's Psycho, though it is set in modern times. The master of cinema was no stranger to television, having created Alfred Hitchock Presents, which ran from 1962 through '66.
