What is your favorite item to read? Novels, articles, comics, or magazines?
One of my favorite things to do is curl up with a good book. I am currently reading Naamah's Blessing by Jacqueline Carey. Once I finish it I will be looking for something else to help soothe me at the end of the day. Suggestions? Favorites? Comment below!
I read anything. I love to read novels, especially science fiction, fantasy, mystery and suspense. I also read articles, magazines, Web sites, newspapers, cereal boxes, anything with print big enough for me to actually see. Right now, I'm browsing through all the free classics available for my Kindle, as well as old favorites from my childhood, like Man in the Iron Mask, The Secret Garden, whatever I can get my hands on.
Thanks for the info about the free Kindle books. I just downloaded both of them!
I also love to curl up with a good book and a cup of coffee. My favorite books are ones that have mystery and suspense. I also love to just browse through magazines.
I like Novels/fiction books the best. I read many different genres. Right now I am reading a Charles Dickens classic, David Copperfield. I recommend it to anyone who likes to read books that make them feel good. (Yes the main character goes through a lot of bad stuff, but it only makes you feel that much better when the good things happen.)
I prefer to read novels over everything else. Articles, for me, have been entirely isolated to the internet. I read them, but I wouldn't consider it a pastime so much as I would a means of keeping up with the news. But, because I read those on the internet, I find almost no enjoyment in physical magazines. They just seem so far behind the curve of information that I'm always reading stuff I already know about. I enjoy comics but the stories always feel a bit flat to me. They're more appealing because of the art style, not necessarily the writing. And, as for short stories, I can enjoy them every now and again, but their length turns me off. I prefer a book that takes time to build characters and develop a long story arc. I feel like it's more satisfying to reach the end of a novel than it is the end of a short story.
Suggestion for article reading: The place I enjoy referencing to for fact and entertainment -because history does have humor- is through Jstor. They have an amazing catalog of information online. It has journals, letters and other primary sources so you can get more fact than flub. I love internet articles but sometimes I do question authenticity. With Jstor the research sources are cited on the articles. I love it!
