   Profile English and hub English not matching up?
   
   Have you ever come across a beautifully written hub, and because you are intrigued, you go look at the author's profile only to find that the English used to describe themselves on their profile is really poor English? I don't mean just a bit of fun short hand, but really poor English. How is it then, that they are able to write a high quality hub? Or is it possible that they didn't actually write the hub? If they didn't write the hub, it makes me wonder where they got it from, and if it's really theirs.

   Yes, it's very possible they aren't the one who wrote the Hub.  In fairness to such a person, however, some people do pay for material that others write.  Also in fairness to such people, there's the chance they've had their material edited/proofed and then fixed it up.  The other side to that issue, too, is the profile that's written in perfect English with Hubs that are far from it.  People sometimes get others (and sometimes pay them) to write profiles (real or fake).
   
   I'm not defending people who don't use correct grammar in their profile, because when I see that kind of thing I don't bother with the Hubs (and do kind of assume the person may have stolen the material); BUT, I think it's important to be fair and not draw conclusions beyond just exercising one's preference not to read the Hubs of someone who can't/won't come up with a more polished profile.

      What is correct grammar?  I've had stuff rejected by Constant Content for 'grammar faults' that have been printed in the submitted form in the UK and Ireland.

      Thanks for all the different viewpoints, Lisa - I didn't think of people paying somebody else to write their hubs for them - frankly because it doesn't seem worthwhile - might be a while before a hub earns what the hubber paid somebody to write it.

      MickS, that's interesting. Maybe the grammar checker on Constant Content, is floored by the different way that we spell certain things in the UK/Ireland. Or the slightly different turn of phrase that we sometimes use? Sounds a bit silly if so.

   Possibly because they spent more time and care over the hub, writing it on, say, Word, on the computer, spending time and effort on research and using the grammar and spell checking facilities, checking the piece until it is ready to copy then paste into hubpages.

   That's a very interesting point, Teresa. When you see those kinds of grammatical  inconsistencies, it does make you wonder why. I'm inclined to believe as you do, that perhaps, the work may not be original to that publisher/author. My profile is just as important to me as my hubs are so I pay the same attention to both when writing.

      Yes, I believe that they should care about their profiles.  However, perhaps some get carried away with the immediacy of joinig up and just blurt a profile without thinking.

      I think in most cases, poor profiles are written by people with raw talent that needs help. Therefore, after they join HP, they realize they need help and find someone to show them the way?

   When the profile is written in poor English, and the hubs seem polished, I would be inclined to copy a few lines of the hub(s), and paste into Google.  This would reveal the origin of the material in the hub if it was copied.

   if HP is truly trying to clean up bad grammar then I think their account should be given a warning . Google is devaluing or not indexing bad content so should HP.
