What are the best free ways to market an e-book?

It is one thing to publish an ebook, but finding a way through the maze of free marketing options is a nightmare! Who has a clear, healthy program for enticing readers to try the book?

You could always promote it for a couple of days as a free ebook on Amazon.com. You can also put it on different websites, have a personal website for the book to promote it, and even put it on Facebook or Twitter for your friends to follow and promote.  Good luck!

Promoting your ebook as free on Amazon is a great idea. I didn't know this was possible. People would probably be interested, and if it's a great book, they would recommend it, so others would be interested in buying it in the future. Great tips!

      Hi vox vocis.

Yes it is. I did that for my book of poetry. I gave people 5 full days of free access to my book via Kindle and to buy it if they liked it. It helped with a few sales, but you should also try marketing through other ways as I said.

Thanks, riaha! I have a facebook page set up now. Amazon has a program for 90 days. If you give them an exclusive, kindle readers can read it for free and we get royalties on the free reads. I am working on
      Twitter, Digg, blogs, profiles etc.

Hi Xenonlit.  I also have a Facebook page and a separate webpage set up for my book. I think you have to be in people's faces though to really get them to buy the book. I am having a bit of a hard time right now with that.  I'm not very aggressive.

Thankriaha! I am in the same boat, but do not have a website yet. I am maxed out on the social networks and have to clean the book up for print. I hate hawking stuff, but will find some ways to sell my print books.

      Hi Xenonlit:
No problem! I got a free website at www.webs.com. You could try that and then market the website on your Facebook and Amazon.com pages.  Good luck!

Oooh. That sounds great! I will check into that as soon as I clean up my still messy book. I have an editor now and he is tearing it up!

      Hi Xenonlit.
I didn't have an editor for mine. I self-published through Createspace.com which is an Amazon.com company. Then I put it up as an ebook in Kindle.

I have to clean that sucker up! ha ha! Whoo, were there problems on the first book. I just finished the last major renovation and will upload tonight. Then I will feel better promoting it. I learned a lot of things, such as not editing the wrong file

Good luck with cleaning it up. I know. I usually read, re read and reread again. Sometimes it sounds great the first time, but then I find tons of mistakes by the time I proofread it for the third or fourth time.

My volunteer editor is a retired editor who will get credit on the next volume. He said something very enlightening: The author can't see the mistakes because the author already knows what she or he wants to say, so writer brain simply fills it in!

Why don't you promote in the forum with related topic?

That's a good idea. Xenonlit can also promote the book under their HubPages profile.
