What is you you favorite massage technique?

I would like to know as many massage types, (or massage modalities), as possible. Can you tell me what is you favorite one and why. A short description would be great. I know a bit about massage, but I would like to have more views from both practitioners and clients.

The only type of massage that makes me feel better in any way is a deep tissue or 'sports' massage. The deep kneading action really releases the tension in the muscles and I still feel it the next day. Other massages just feel like someone moving their hands over me and aren't 'therapeutic' for me. In fact, that's kind of frustrating. I am looking for muscle relief more than just straight up relaxation.  I guess it depends what you are looking for. Many of my friends like a nice gentle rolling massage or hot stone massage. Meh, for me, if it isn't uncomfortable that day and still the next, I didn't get my money's worth, lol.

Actually, let me amend that. I had a Thai massage in San Francisco once where the women pounded, walked on me and stretched my back, arms and legs for an hour. That was fantastic. I loved that. I never felt so good after a massage.

I think I need to schedule some massages soon.

Thanks for your answer, many people fell the same way.
I think the preference deep vs gentle is related to a few things. An active life keeps you fit, gentle is too soft. Personality, psychological profile play a role as well.

My favorite is Ayurvedic massage because it feels so good and it relaxes me well that I can sleep 10 hours straight after the treatment. This is so good for my skin and for my well being.
