    That is a tough one, because during my teens years during the 90's I did listen to a lot of the alternative & grunge rock that was popular. In many ways Nirvana was a musical gateway drug for me. A lot of the music I got into (such as obscure underground rock bands of the 70's & 80's) I got into because of Nirvana. Even though there are bands from the 90's that I listen to more now, because of their formative influence at the time, I'll go with Nirvana.

    For me, Pantera hands-down. Cowboys from Hell came out in 1990, and Vulgar Display of Power in 1992. As a hair metal fan I absolutely hated grunge, though I've since come to love Alice in Chains and Soundgarden.

    Alice in chains. Their albums are all different and they have harder music than the other grunge bands.
