Why do so many writers use bad grammar?
So many people use are instead of is, your instead of you're, have instead of has, and countless other foibles. More people will read what you have written, if you edit better before publishing.
I am not so good in english but i try to write.Because i feel hubpages is a platform to share your thought and improve your writing. If you feel some writers have grammatical problem, please help them.
I do agree with you, but you have to take into consideration the fact that not all people on Hubpages are coming from countries that speak English or use English as the official language of the countries. Another reason, well, maybe they know a few languages and then they mix the whole thing up? That is just my opinion anyway since it is always the case for me.
It has happened to me. I hate "code-switching".
It always happens to me, since I know 5 different languages and you just can't imagine the difficulty that I have to face when switching from one language to another. Spelling and pronunciation all mix up. XD
English is not my native language. This means that I will commit grammatical errors at some point. Like most people here, I am an amateur who strives to be a better writer over practice and time. So, why do "so many writers" use bad grammar? Because we all make mistakes, and if we are directed towards it in a constructive manner, we learn not to do it again in the future.
... I think you have a grammatical error in your bio. There's an "i" in minuscule whereas it should be in majuscule. You're welcome.
"More people will read what you have written, if you edit better before publishing."
A valid point, but it's non-constructive and even offensive to some. It won't help these writers because you are not giving the details. Where are the errors? Direct them towards it (with respect, of course). I'm telling you this advice since you added it to the question, which makes little sense to me (in my opinion). I mean, there are a lot of people I've seen here who write really well and end up getting less readers AND followers than the opposite. Good marketing and luck, I suppose. Haha.
These errors are so small,I think most people don't even realize their writing contains them.
Some words are tricky, and some common usages (like using 'they' as a neuter form of he/she) make verb conjugation difficult.
What sounds good to the ear looks strange to grammar-savvy readers, but many readers and writers won't notice the error.
Even extra editing won't fix an error you don't recognize as erroneous.
Thanks for bringing this up! I was so aggravated one day that I decided to do something about it (I wrote 7 grammar hubs.) I honestly don't think most people realize how impossible it is to read, distinguish, and differentiate words when they're wrong, or when the grammar is crazy.
A few mistakes here and there? Sure! An absolute lack of effort? I'm going to rate your hub down and move on; simple as that!

Should you worry about proper English when writing or just let the creativity flow? Why are some people so anal about grammar and sentence structure when they read something that somebody else wrote? Does creativity count for anything?

Now, I have recently joined this community and I must say some of the articles I've read were wrought with grammatical errors or a strange juxtaposition of word choices. Now, let me make myself clear: I do not think that those hubs that were laden with valuable information were useless or bad...

We Hubbers are imposed upon using proper English, though you are a non-native speaker. I sometimes find difficulties to use it - it's specially in writing an article. Perhaps you have the same experience with me. If you have, please share with me, how do you use proper English?

Do hubs with spelling errors make you think less of a hub?Is anyone else distracted by a hub that has decent content but several spelling errors or grammatical errors?
