Is it just me or does your computer crash when you try to comment on an answer?

Is it just me or does your computer crash when you try to comment on an answer?

Sometimes, when I try to comment on an answer, my computer completely freezes up. The only way to unfreeze it is to get out of HubPages altogether. Is this happening to you, too. Or, am I the only one?

My computer does not crash when answering questions. I use Firefox. Are you using any special AD blocking programs on your system like Adblock or anything like that?

I'm a Google Chrome user (version 19) user and I haven't  encountered this issue myself.
I also agree with blessed365, that you may want to check what add-ons you are using when visiting this site.

Computer crashes are not unique to the person, but may be unique to the event. It is possible that the link that takes you to the comment portion of a hub has something in it, or a firewall is getting in the way, or there is a problem with your hard drive (not a likely cause--but possible). My suggestion is to shut everything down for several minutes including the modem or router through which your internet signal comes--bad packets, code, whatever, can get caught in those things as well. Restart and then restart your browser. Hubpages was designed around Firefox. So if you are using that, make sure you have the latest version.

Try it again.  If that does not work, I would try defraging your hard drive--can take some time, depending on the size of your drive.

After that I am out of easy suggestions. My last option would be to shut your computer down for the night and hope everything works better tomorrow. It has happened to me.

    Good Luck.

By the way I use fFireFox with Google on an eight year old Dell with Windows 7. If you made any changes recently or if any updates were installed, you can restore to an earlier restore point and see if that solves the problem.

I do not think your computer freeze because of answering hubpage question's. You had too many windows open and your system was low on ram memory.

If that is not the case then I believe it is Firefox's latest version that is causing this problem.

Remove the current Firefox version completely and Install a previous version. I think this will solve your problem. Happy hubbing and good luck

I'm not going to try it then!

Oh - hang on - I just did. So it must be just you.

Seriously though, there are a thousand reasons why this could happen and without any specific evidence like crash dumps etc, it's not going to be possible to diagnose. You can guess. Look at what was last installed or updated, and try to revert back to a restore-point before that time.
