It is not so much the technological advances that one specifically hopes for that turns out surprising us and affecting the way we live.  Honestly speaking, I would definitely enjoy seeing mechanical androids with sufficient artificial intelligence to undertake the tasks that we assign them, yet without the risk of supplanting or attacking us.  This, of course, I will likely not see in my lifetime.

So, instead I live with anticipation for the next big thing around the corner.. the next cell phone, the next iPod, the next iPad, the next gadget, concept or tool that will revolutionize the way we work, live and play.  The next thing that I never would have thought I needed, but that soon I cannot live without.

I suppose that I await the next creative and assertive mind that can bring about fantasy to reality, I await the next Thomas Edison or Steve Jobs.

Oh, I have a long list but just to get started:

Hover cars that drive themselves - Cadillac has stated they have the technology they will release in 2014. Tires are simply not necessary. Imagine roadways that are lush and green.

I also want packages that I CAN open or reuse easily...so tired of wrap rage....

I want philosophy and logic to be introduced in grade school not college.

I want overhead wires to disappear and let mother earth be the beauty she is naturally without all the concrete clutter and overhead wires.

I want a touch screen television that when off is my favorite painting of the day - framed in gold leaf but of course.

I want B vitamins in patch form not liquid energy or tablets.

I want every household to have the ability to have ozonated, purified water for drinking.

I want to purchase electrolyzed water at WalMart.

I want medical to advance where cancer and diabetes are rare not prevalent.

The greatest technological invention is here at our fingertips - I want world peace and for us to know we are more similar than different.

Human cloning and stem cell enhancement.  Would love to be able to get a shot that would rid me of my diseases, replace body parts, etc...and would love to create a younger me and put my head on the new body LOL!
