Do I alone shudder in the Horror imagining another 4 years of Obama spending and Governent Control?

Obama has spent more than any other President in US history. What do we have to show for it? This Country will no longer be "American" if we have another 4 years of this fiasco.
This question is a poke at stanwshura for his melodramatic question regarding Romney earlier.

    You are not alone.
I regard Obama supporters in the same light as an abused wife. No matter what he does, it wasn't his fault and there are one million excuses why it happened.  A group of liberals I know voted for Obama because he was going to end the war as soon as he got in. Some time after he was in office I mentioned that the war was still going on, but now they were no longer crazed with anger over it. In fact they were now giving me reasons why the war needs to continue. I also warned them that taxes would go up for the middle class somehow.. Now that this healthcare deal is on, I pointed  it out and they just don't care. This guy can do anything to them and they will accept it.
Romney has a great background that could be very useful in turning the economy around. I would love to see this crazy administration come to an end sooner, rather than later.

I too know some folks who voted for Obama because "he will do great things for the economy" Hahaha. I asked him last month if he planned on voting for Obama again - he said "why not"!!! Your analogy to the "abused wife" is right on the money.

      Thank you Conservative Lady,
I sure hope Romney wins and America starts to look familiar to us again.

The current deficit is the deficit inherited from Bush. Federal spending has gone up little since Bush's final budget and has been relatively flat. Revenues are down because of the tax breaks put into place by Bush and forced to remain in place by the Republicans. Bush piled 6 trillion dollars to the debt. What do we have to show for that?

Bush also tanked the economy and many economists believe the correct path out of a recession is stimulus spending. Most who believe that also seem to think that the stimulus enacted was far too little.

The alternative which likely would have been implemented by the Republicans and still may be if they are given a chance is austerity like policies, where social benefits are slashed and employee wages and benefits receive negative pressures. These policies would be terrible for the average person.

Your question is equally melodramatic. Maybe you meant to be, maybe you didn't. I'm curious, though, if anyone can name something the Obama government has forced them to do that they weren't forced to do before. Even if you can, they certainly don't compare to they new forcings placed on us by the Bush government.

Obamacare is one I can think of.  Don't misunderstand this is not Obama bashing, nor is it Romney raving.  But to be fair Obamacare is something we will all have to deal with that we have no choice over whether they term it a tax, fine or whatever.

Maybe, but there will also be more people who will no longer be forced to pay for the health care of others. Seems like a reasonable trade. Still, its reality is nowhere near the "end of the universe" hyperbole that some people attribute to it.

    Hi conservative lady,
You are by no means alone!!
I do agree with you completely and with Skarlet.  I do want Obama's administration to be over and done with.  He does not belong in the White House.  I am afraid of what 4 more years of him as president could do to us, I am afraid we will be much worse off than we are now!!

Nice originality.  Wanted to make sure your superior opinion and ideology didn't get buried in the thread, huh?  That there is melodrama bordering on narcissism.  I've had 4 years of Gov't by, of and for Romney.  The "saviour" of the Utah Olympics, who earned his pay from the bay state largely in absentia, can be found contradicting himself by a blind grab of almost any two soundbites.  Obama may not please everyone.  But Willard Mitt Romney is an outright and jaw-droppingly blatant liar.  That alone disqualifies him from any moral authority or serious and decent vote.

Simply took your "melodrama" and added my superior opinion. Thanks

"Melodrama" in quotes:  an improvement toward veracity.
Admitting that it's your opinion:  ditto.  Well done.
"Superior":  "narcissism" was overkill.  Obnoxious arrogance is a fairer description.

Actually, a good share of the debt that we're facing was run up due to W's admin. W took our economy and the world economy to the brink of bankruptcy and collapse and then handed the whole mess over to Obama to fix for us all

As anyone who's ever cleaned up after a wild party knows, it takes longer to clean up a mess than to make one, and that mess will always look worse before it looks better. For folk who are sayng the economy is in terrible shape, it's no longer in collapse, unemployment is slowly going down, people are gradually getting back on their feet again and we are headed in the right direction.

But it took 8 years to make this mess. To expect it to be cleaned up in less than four makes no sense.

I'm sorry that the concept of another 4 years with President Obama scares you. What scares me is the concept of going back to the brink of collapse of the economy, or have the leadership of this country be people who's publically expressed priorities was not the economy, increasing jobs or getting this country back on its feet, but rather embarassing and hindering the President in any way they could....

Please see my comments directed to Junk Seller below - Bill Clinton's words answer this for me.
The Media did EVERYTHING in it's power to embarass Bush every chance they got. Obama had a free pass for 3+ years.

I  just read through the answers here, it looks about 50/50 at the moment.  So, No, you don't shudder alone.  U.S. debt needs to be repaid.
This debt is the biggest threat to national security.  The top three spenders are Social Security, Defence and Income Security.  After that comes Medicare and Health and then the interest bill for all the debt.  The only way to get that debt down is to tackle all these items and live within our means.
Over the next 4 years, whoever is President will oversee 1 trillion dollars in interest payments.
Wow. 1 Trillion dollars.  If the debt was not there that would be 1 trillion dollars that could be spent on services or lower taxes. (I hope it wouldn't be spent on bigger government.)
If we pay down the debt by the same amount we are paying in interest today,  it will take 60+ years to clear the slate.  That's pretty much a lifetime of serfdom for every citizen.  The only way for America to be the land of the free again is to pay down the debt.

Thank you for the reassurance Agantum - you are correct freedom will come from paying down the debt and trimming big government.

Dear Conservative lady, you are far from alone. Went to a parade today, in liberal California. There were so many anti- Obama, pro- Romney signs, it was incredible. I see you have some liberal talking heads on here presenting their unsubstantiated facts. He is the biggest spender in the history of our country. Can't wait until November.
