Weebly - How practical is it?
Is Weebly a good platform to build a site and blog? I recognize that it's a free site builder, which is why I would like to know what are your thoughts on using it... Thanks!
I started using Weebly because of not needing to know HTML. You can use those long HTML codes such as given to you by various merchants for their products with your affiliate code and place them right on your page, rather than on the sidebar which happens with blogger. It is a quick way to get set up and running. But there are still things you have to learn such as getting indexed by Google, and how to get the most you can from the site. Bottom line, is that there are those who love Weebly, and those that don't. I have seen a lot of complaints by those who pay for Weebly. A friend of mine not only had her paid weebly site, hacked, but she lost the site itself, somebody stole it. Weebly did nothing to help her. But if you go free, you have nothing to lose. I would suggest to copy all articles you place on the site and save them.
I think it is great. I have one page in Portuguese, for my dog training, and another in English, that has links back to my articles on dogs. I use different navigators so I do not have to exit out of one page to access the other. The site is easy to use, allows me to monetize, and has features that allow me to add galleries as well as text.
I sound like a commercial!
Hahaha... Not much at all.
Uhm... I was wondering if it can also be amenable for custom design? Like when you're in blogger or a self-hosted wordpress site where graphic artist can make awesome revamp on the site's look... Is that even possible?
I´m not sure. I still have my blogger page and just linked it to my weebly page. That way I could just give my weebly address when I answer dog questions on other sites.
I see. Thank you for your help. Means a lot.
I set up a simple site on Weebly a couple of years ago and really did not do anything with it. But after the Panda and Penguin updates it suddenly popped up on page 1! I have to say it is pretty easy to use and has some nice templates. I'm going to use it more over the coming months for backlinks and traffic.
Wow, that's very good to hear! It turns out, Weebly isn't that bad after all?
When I was green in web Development a few years ago. I thought Weebly was a good way to have a site up in minutes. I was attracted to Weebly by the Free Site builder as you say. When I discovered the truth about getting a good site up and ranking it well I realized that the best way if you want to remain relevant into the distant future is owning a site that is designed with WordPress. Let no one out there cheat you that Weebly will rank well in Google. I went down that road and I was very disappointed.
Hope you don't make the same mistakes I made then. Thanks
Thank you very much for your advice. I see that it really takes a lot of investment in order to establish your presence online...

I am considering creating a web site and would appreciate comments/suggestions. I am fairly new to this and the only web hosting/creation site that I know is godaddy.com but I am sure there must be more.

Despite all that's gone on, I still consider HubPages my online home and the place where I'd prefer my content live. In fact, I've been extremely impressed and excited about the niche sites, and my traffic for Hubs moved over has looked really, really good. However, I still have concerns, namely...
