Have you began planning your fall vegetable garden, yet?

Hi, no I haven't begun yet. I'm not in the U.S. right now and will have to wait til I return on Sept 14th.  What kinds of vegetables can be grown in the fall? I would love to know.
I plan to add mulch to the landscaped areas, add pebbles to the pathway, and plant more bulbs! See my hug about landscaping and fountain for my tiny yard.

I live in Georgia, and our fall garden consists of collards, lettuce, kale, and cabbage. Plus, we continue to harvest summer veggies like tomatoes, sweet potatoes, peppers and squash throughout the fall.

No true planning yet, still in the "thinking" stages. Thinking I need to do some weeding, add some new compost, and mulch. It's too hot to get out and do that labor or plant cool weather fall crops yet! In the next couple weeks, I might start some seeds indoors.

In Georgia, we are dealing with a hot, humid summer too. My yellow squash have gone down due to mildew from the humidity. My tomatoes are trying to bounce back right now because we have had a good week of lower temps.

Actually, we have been blessed to have a big garden, about two acres, so having a second crop is not really necessary for us. We use the fall to build up the soil in the garden, clean up a bit for next years crop and to cultivate
and nuture our fruit trees and bushes. We have had an excellent year this time with harvest from our garden and it
looks like we have been able to put up a sufficient amount of food to share with the kids.

Congrats on the successful garden. That is great. The problem here in Georgia, is that it is so hot for so long we cannot grow the colder season veggies until fall. It sounds like you have a big job in the fall without harvesting.

I've never done much fall gardening, but I started some mizuna yesterday, and hope to put in some brassicas next week -- if I can find plants. I think it might be too late to start them from seed, but I should be able to find some kale to plant. We're unlikely to get any cabbages or broccoli since the bugs and some other critter have really chowed down on them. I plan to go through my remaining seeds and see which ones might be good for experimenting with for the Fall.

Sounds good RoxiM. In Georgia, we cannot start putting even the seeds of cooler weather plants in the ground until September. I am so looking forward to the fall.
