   What do you think of Hubbers who write on a controversial subject
   
   expressing falsehoods in it and then after getting only comments that disagree with the author, delete the whole comment section?

   Or, they delete any comments that disagree with them and only allow comments from their "fans". There are many hubbers who I've debated about certain subjects. In the end, we may agree to disagree, but usually we've both learned something in the process.
   The reason this particular practice irks me so is because this is a site that is supposed to be informative, not to just post your own propaganda. I think in an honest debate of any subject, everyone learns something they did not know.

      And some people are so immature when they are criticized they have to resort to censorship solely so that they can have the last word...pathetic.

   The majority of Hubbers, I believe, are fortunate enough to live in countries where free speech is a democratic right. Therefore, I support Hubbers who wish to voice their opinions on any given topic, providing it is a lawful one.
   
   What I have noticed over recent years is that some subjects have become particularly taboo to voice an opinion on. For example, I am based in the UK, an extremely small country when considered in a global context. Immigration has been a problem for decades. However, those who dared to speak out against it were more or less silenced by being branded "racists." This engendered fear amongst most mere mortals who became afraid of speaking out. In reality, the opposition had very little to do with race. It was a matter of  economic viability and sustainability. Only now is the UK government finally admitting that the country does indeed have such a problem!
   
   If you are writing controversial hubs, then I do not consider it ethical to delete comments simply because they express opposing views to your own. Such subjects must be open to debate. This is called democracy! You must accept that you will have your critics. Nonetheless, when people feel passionate about a topic they can become somewhat fanatical and I appreciate that the time may come when it is best to close all new comments. This is not the same as deleting any comments which differ to the views expressed in the hub.
   
   I personally have not encountered controversial hubs expressing falsehoods but I should have thought that the appropriate action, in such instances, would be to flag the hub. This highlights the importance of researching and stating the source of your information, especially when you know the subject matter is bound to raise a few eyebrows.
   
   By the way Tsadjatko, I've quickly browsed your hub topics and some of those seem pretty controversial to say the least!!

      Marketing Merit, I quickly browsed the original question and the questioner was very explicit.  The question is concerning "Hubbers who write on a controversial subject expressing falsehoods in it,"  not simply controversial subjects.

      I am confused by the intent in your comment Cam8510.  I provided a comprehensive answer to those who express  falshoods in hubs and also those who delete opposing comments. Nonetheless, I at least thank you for taking the time to read my answer!

      By the way Marketing Merit, I know and if you noticed there are no falsehoods and I don't delete the comment section (or comments) when they disagree with my point of view. Comments allow for fair and balanced debate some can't tolerate

      @ Tsadjatko & Cam8510 I believe my final comment may have been misinterpreted. It was merely a reference to Tsadjatko having several controversial topics hence, their interest in this question. It was not meant to imply these contained falsehoods

   For some writers controversial subjects are exhilarating and challenging. I have written some Hubs on gun control that could be considered controversial and have enjoyed the comments from readers very much. A writer can never expect all readers to agree so when choosing controversial subjects it's best to "go with the flow", let everyone have their say and learn something from each commenter. I'm always flattered when I receive comments from all sides of a question -- in that way the purpose of the Hub is validated. I do, however, refuse personal attacks on myself or any of my commenters -- and that happens occasionally with some who get over zealous on a subject. Excellent question!

      I'm curious, what do you think of someone who deletes the entire comment section only because all comments disagree with her and then adds a message to the hub debasing the commenters solely so she gets the last word? Immature?
